Swish some hard liquor (preferrably vodka or whiskey) around the problem area. Won't solve the problem, but it'll numb it up. If the problem subsists, take said medication orally until pain goes away.

Goody's powder! Never heard of that crap till I was in Georgia, ya just don't see it too popular up north. It's basically powdered aspirin or whatever the hell it is, but it works within minutes of taking.
Oralplus put out by orajel. Its a paste in a tube that when put into a cavity will deaden the nerve for a while. Works really great.
Another thing is rock salt held in the mouth next to the bad tooth. But most people can't stand to suck on a piece of rock salt.
