Required $4.99 roasted chicken. $25 gift basket for friend. Cranberry-Jalapeno Chicken meatballs, cranberry-walnut crackers. LOL! Christmasy for the most part.

I really wanted Chilean Sea Bass, it was out.

Obviously I can't buy from Costco like I did when in a house with 3 kids, then later said kids + mom/dad + nurse. LOL! That used to be $400 every couple weeks. I really bought all my fresh and frozen veggies and fruits and meat there-had the room and people to eat. Not so much now, so while I missed certain things, couldn't justify the membership costs.

However, was reading the WSJ and found that COSTCO has audiologist on site, as well as full assortment of hearing aids; not just OTC. My last hearing aids were $10k for pair. Bluetooth were just coming on market and not tested all that well.

Now? From what I read it sounds like the equivalent of mine with bluetooth, would be about the same cost as before. Same at Costco? $4k. So I figure the cost of membership is worth it. Besides I know they have auto insurance and tires and car buying program and travel that are supposed to be very good. I'll be checking them out.

I do have a freezer, so after some perusing and getting used to the sizes and prices again, I'll probably get some roasts and cut into steaks. I've got vacuum sealer that is great.

This was kinda funny, I was driving to Tucson to try a different Costco than the one in Gilbert/Chandler, my son called. 'Watcha doin' mom?' 'Going to Costco.' 'Heck! Could you tell Lindsay how to make the gravy for the roasted chicken? Ours doesn't come with a packet.' 'Honey, none of them come with a packet.'

'How'd you make it then? It is the best! I kept telling her...' LOL! 'Ok, follow directions to reheat: 350 for an hour. Put the bird on carving board before slicing. Put a tablespoon-2 of flour with cold water in jar with lid. Shake, shake, shake. Meanwhile, heat the roaster pan, scraping up brown bits that form, add a cup of so of water to roaster pan, bring to boil. Shake water/flour again, whisk into pan. If looks 'light' add a tablespoon of chicken Better than Bullion' or throw in a cube of bullion. If too thin, add a bit more flour/water; if too thick, add water or milk.

Note he needs every little detail. Shockingly he didn't ask how to close the jar! LOL!

Best part, save the carcass. I have 3; this one and two chickens I'd cooked in the past couple months. When I get to 5, I make my own low sodium chicken broth. So much better than what you buy.
