Default US components found in Russian weapons in Ukraine war

    1. The following are excerpts from a 17 April 2023 CNBC news report:

    (Begin excerpts)
Western companies were quick to shutter operations in Russia after the country’s military invasion of Ukraine last February. But U.S. and European microelectronic tech continues to power the Kremlin’s war.

Key components from more than a dozen Western countries have been found in the military equipment used by Russian forces in Ukraine, according to research from the British academic journal Royal United Services Institute. A separate report from independent research group Conflict Armament Research analyzed the components of four Iranian-made drones, also known as unmanned aerial vehicles, used by Russia in Ukraine and found the vast majority of the technological devices originated from U.S. companies....

“For Russian systems, I think we have a little bit more than 50% of components that bear the brands of U.S.-based entities,” said Damien Spleeters, deputy director of operations for CAR. “For Iranian systems, it is more than 80%.”....

About 70% of the 450 components that RUSI examined from more than 27 different weapons systems, platforms, radios and equipment were manufactured by U.S. companies.... (End excerpts)

    2. Poster's Comment:

In the opening line from a monologue by a character, Jaques, in William Shakespeare’s play, As You Like It:

    "All the world’s a stage,
    And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts,..."

Uncle Sam seems to be "playing" on both sides of the Russia-Ukraine War -- two-faced or hypocritical -- as described by the Cantonese idiom 兩頭蛇 (literally meaning "two-headed snake").

It is high time for the Ukrainian leader to wake up and press the US regime (which is labelled as "Gestapo administration" by Donald Trump) to explain the mystery of US components in weapons used by Russian forces in Ukraine.

War is no joke, but on the world stage the former Ukrainian comedian has finally met his match in Uncle Sam who often plays cruel jokes on friends and foes alike.

If one was to look at the topic, one would find that almost ALL Russian technology has been stolen from the West going back as far as post-WWII. To the point that many of its weapons systems have been near clones of the originals. Likewise N Korea, minus whatever China has handed it.

Not say there are not those unscrupulous types that would sell their own mothers for a nickel. Any country/corporation that can make weapons systems has them floating all over the World. Not considered is the fact that what might be obsolete to us is precision, viable equipment in the 3rd World.

Then there was all the technology sharing (to a certain point) post Cold War as if everybody was going to play nice for the rest of time.

Where is Russia currently acquiring its weapons systems from? Iran, China, and N Korea primarily.

There's no one country/person to blame as there is no one reason.
