Occasionally I get to observe some pretty cool stuff during my "lunch Hour" - or 3 hours, as it was today, counting the 2.5hrs vacation I took.
A colleague will soon be taking over a support company; he invited me out to his soon-to-be-BN cdr's training today. Sling-Load a Howizter.
At one point, I was about 50? feet below, and just to the side of the bird as it carried it's cannon. HOLY CRAP - Hurricane-force winds made taking shots nearly impossible - if I salvage any, I'll post-up.
Here are just a few shots.

Now those I like, especially the one in the center. Nice color saturation.

Now that is 'a great day at work'! :cheers2: Lucky for me I won't get too jealous this evening. ;)
awesome. seriously. you have a great job. my mom today mentioned, again, that I should apply to the government, DOJ. told I would, this though makes it seem pretty cool. though they probably put my kind in shark tanks or something....

Here's one from RIGHT under the Shithook... :D I couldn't even stand - was hunkered down and still barely able to snap a pic:

The light on the cannon is amazing, I really like this shot, just the right shutter speed too. Chopper and cannon in great focus with the movement of the blades..... very nice. I don't like to see rotor blades stopped, stops the movement in the shot and deep in my subconscious that means bad things will happen soon.:laugh2::laugh2:

I'm right there with you - I was stuck, in a way - as I slowed the shutter, I'd lose ALL KINDSA f/stop. I'm still going thru - but I don't have many w/o stopped blades. :-/

Nice depth of field and I really like the heat signature in the rear of the aircraft. I also really like the colors, you could use them for an interior designers pallet and again the light and shadow, very dramatic..... another great shot, I would print it.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, had a school chum that did, went overseas. that is what he wanted. my only concern is location. must be westcoast.

I Corps IS on the west coast. ;)
Right, but I only get "preference" of choice. At least that is how I understand it.

Great pics, D! I really go the feeling of muscle in those machines, and the sky looked amazing.
(And it makes me regret turning down that job offer from Boeing).

Does Abbey like the feel of muscle?
(Sorry, couldn't help myself. The Beavis in me comes out from time to time.)

OK, that's it. These shots are too good to simply be posted in the Lounge. I must have them in the Photography forum.
Absolutely stunning D. :salute::bow2:

I'm humbled - thanks Jon.
Here's another. Not a very artistic shot - but I like looking at it. :)

Thanks Jon -
No - thats 'fibers' using a fliter on PS, on a subsequent layer + layer mask.
For some reason the non-sepia version (read: captured) of the pic never looked right. But, aged I think makes a neat shot.
The ch47 in the upper right is real - wasn't PS'd in. He was actually across post, dropping Rangers into American Lake. :)
