On Saturday Australian PM, John Howard, got beaten like a gong. Australia's new PM ran on a platform of immediately signing the Kyoto protocols, leaving the US as the only industirialized nation which has not signed it, and to pull Australian combat troops out of Iraq.

Already a thread on this and our resident Aussies have had some to say on this. You wont like it Bully but it really had NOTHING to do with Bush and Co. It was on domestic issue in OZ and that was pretty much it.....:slap:

Try again....:poke:

And tell us Bully, does signing the Kyoto protocols bring down the emissions from a country? How much have all these other countries really brought down in emissions? Especially when the vast majority of all these countries have zero obligations to really do anything other than monitor and report their emissions. Kyoto is nothing more than a UN attempt to tax the US in billions of dollars. Don't know about you, but I think our government is spending enough money as is.

Lets also not forget that Kyoto was made in 1998, when your dear fellows B.J. Clinton and Al "Savior of the Warm World" Gore were the pricks in command. And they were the ones who chose not to ratify it in the Senate, mainly because even they saw right through the double standard within the treaty that gave a free pass to China.

Nice try though, trying to pin Howard's loss on Bush. Especially over something like Kyoto, which Austalia had its own reasons to not sign it either.

it's pretty clear that, for whatever specific reason, Bush's skunk stench is strong enough to reach across the Pacific and foul the air around his buddies.

why do you assume Bush has anything to do with it? Howard has been in office quite a while. People want change sometimes it happens.

If Bush is so bad why did Germany and France vote pro Bush leaders in last cycle?

Nice deflection, but now that they have pro American leaders, perhaps there will be soon! :finger3:

Iraq was mentioned early and then forgotten about. The election was won by Labor on domestic issues which I won't bore you with. Yes, Howard's obeisance to Bush sickened us but it wasn't among the primary reasons for the Liberals being booted.
