I'll say either one. Usually if it is early in the Holiday Season ie pre Thanksgiving I will say "Happy Holidays" or "Happy Thanksgiving" later in the season I will start to say "Merry Christmas".

It has been hard for me to even get into the holiday spirit since I moved to Florida. It never seems like winter down here so even though I know we are getting close to the holidays it just doesn't seem like we should be.

If i said "Happy Holidays" to anyone here in Oz I'd be accused of being a wanker. I know why it's so in North America but I think it's ridiculous. Using that logic then anyone of any religion or custom wouldn't be able to nominate their holiday in their good wishes to others.

If it was good enough for Jimmy Stewart to charge around town wishing everyone "Merry Christmas!" then it's okay for us to do so.
