Causality has always been problematic for liberals. Is it the dishonesty behind their assertions or are they simply unable to think outside of what the collective tells them? I have yet to sus that one out.

Looking at the chart one has to notice that Bush 1 was where the dive started by Carter was reversed and then in the middle of the next liberal administration the growth again was reversed.

Liberals typically tend to ignore the fact that economic adjustments take a while to see come to fruition.

It should also be pointed out that considering that graph each conservative (Bush 2 being a real conservative could be debated) the downward trend starts to reverse. Between Reagan and Bush 1 is the only real time that a continued downward trend was seen from conservative leadership to conservative leadership.

The numbers certainly do, every time a conservative is in office after a liberal it takes a long time but the numbers once again begin to climb out of the basement.

I guess my comment about causality was correct.

The reason there are so few responses to this thread is that it is more of the same old flying monkey obfuscation of fact tm.

What the graph tells me is, I don't want to vote for another Bush for President. In no way does it predict the fiscal responsibility of future Presidents, be they Republican or Democrat.

That's the truth. The fact of the matter is, is that those of us who want limited government have NO choice in the major parties. It's the Republicans, party of big government, or the Democrats, party of big government.

I have to admit that the Democratic Congress since the 2006 elections has looked pretty fiscally responsible....of course, that's because they have yet to pass a spending bill, but hey.....it's the thoughtlessness that counts.....

Do you honostly believe that the minute a Democrat takes office the economy and budget suddenly take a trun for the better. You have a very poor grasp of economics if you do.

It takes years of change and thoughtfulness to bring about change in the budget and the economy. Anyone who looks at a graph like that can see that the upswing had to occur after drastic changes were made during the down turn and vice versa during the upswing you can not just "ride the wave" becasue it eventually comes crashing down. Just like what Clinton did.

You do realize that in the last 2 years of Clintons presidency the stock market tanked big time or did you miss that..

actually, it would have been more helpful to look at the what created the deficit......my graph shows both components....spending and taxing.....the Democrats are the masters of both components......the only fortunate moment we had was the Gingrich congress when spending was reduced.....
