I prefer Sleeman's cream or honey brown when I'm in the mood. I like Rickards Red (Not bad for a BC beer!) too, most decent places have it on tap. If they don't have either, I'll stick with Canadian. I like a sweet kick.

LOL.
I prefer the microbrews. Though I am quite pleased with the Sam Adams line of brews, particularly the Black Ale, and Medocino Brewing Company does some nice work. Fat tire works as well. More often than not, however, I bring a growler or two from my local brew houses. The Firestone brewery up in Buelton has a tasty Hemp Ale I'm fond of. Guinness and Harp works, as do some of the English ales. You can't beat a Black & Tan.

The Sam Adams is actually Black Lager (I recently poked my head into my 'fridge).
The Hemp Ale is smooth, it's dark, a little hoppie, and the after taste reminds of bong hits. I have yet to find it in the stores, but they do sell it by the six-pack or growler at their place in Buellton.

Not the one I had. It was possibly a Pale Ale. Is a pale ale the same thing as a black lager only light and an ale? I'm not an expert, but I guarantee I would never drink anything considered black, let alone a black lager.

I used to like Molson, Labatt's is better. My problem these days is that about ten years ago I got into the microbrews and found the complexity of flavors just surpass, IMO, the mass produced brews. While I know longer consider Sam Adams a microbrew, mainly because of the market share they've been able to grab, they have been able to maintain the quality of their early days.

Wait a minute. Flavour? I thought you just had to drink beer until you passed out? What's "flavour" got to do with it? :laugh2:
Yes, I agree, small breweries can also experiment without risking too much I would think, if something doesn't work they can stop the production run and get back on track fairly quickly I would think.

Labatt's is for the french. No self-respectting english Canadian would be caught dead walking aout of the beer store with any of Labatt's beer!(at least in Ontario) Unless you're an old fart, then they drink '50....even then, they probably have a story about why they drink Blue.

I love the Ontario liquor stores - there's those nice little boutique ones with the LLBO signs and then there's the gigantic ones with "The Beer Store" signs, no subtlety at all - heaps of beers though :cheers2:
