When Bots Attack

I noticed last night the board was running slow, but just assumed there was maintenance going on in the background. Still slow this morning, but didn't look down and instead texted Jim that the board was slow as hell... he pointed out there was over 5200 bots hammering the board. Yeah, that'll do it.

He's on the road, so I started mass banning IP ranges, which is risky sometimes... but I think I limited it to China where all these bots were coming from. If you have any issues, please reach out to any staff and we'll remedy things. This should only affect oversea China addresses, and nothing good ever comes from China anyway so we shouldn't see anything untoward.

We've already shed 4000+ bots in the last 10 minutes, so the board should be responsive again. Sorry for the inconvenience!-

They're being stubborn but the board is responding halfway decently now.

Still got several thousand sporting error messages and hanging on tenaciously but at least their mischief has been mitigated.
