My wife and I currently spend about $50bux a mo for extended basic cable which seems like a rip-off considering I only watch a handful of channels on it..

If you were to ask me "why then do you keep paying for it, I'd tell you "I don't know"......

Have any of you ever thought about how much you pay your respective TV provider?

About $105/month for Digital Cable (comcast on-demand) and Broadband.

Most of the channels she watches are available for free using an antenna...

I asked mary, while in a fit about money, to cancell EVERYTHING. Even considering getting a tiny, crappy DSL pipe connection to the net to save a few bux.

I'm paying too damn much for FNC, Spike and History Channel. OK my daughter watches Disney. Since I pay $45/month plus taxes and shit that's over ten bucks per.

Internet's another 45 but at least I write that off for work.

I'm seriously thinking of satellite.

WE have directTV its about $65.00 thats for 2 sets of premium movie packages as well(plus 2 recievers). I also spend about $40.00 for a DSL line. Its all i can get where I'm at, they wont run cable to my house because we have a "hard" line infront and they would have to re lay about a mile of cable to make a junction. Ohh well at least I get my SciFi, Spike, HBO, Showtime, Fox, and the kids get Disney and nickelodean....

Zip...I get all the local channels and two pbs stations with an antenna.

I went down to basic basic cable about 8 years ago and I can't say that I miss it. We still have about 30 channels and 13 of them are worth having.

$14.50/month. Comcast doesn't advertise it.

$14.50/month. Comcast doesn't advertise it. That's high. We use to have basic for 7 bucks. That's cheaper than an outdoor antenna, really.

Assuming that it still costs $7, I guess it's because you live in "The South".

Out here, it doesn't get any cheaper.

I disagree. The only thing that is cheaper here is real estate. Its a HUGE difference but that is the only thing I have found to be cheaper.

That and taxes. My RE taxes are 1/4 of what they were in upstate NY. In-state college tution is also much less. Those three things make a huge difference in lifestyle.

Shit I've got friends in NY with houses about the same as mine and they're paying 12K in property taxes. That's $1000 per month. I take the savings and bought a second home in the mountains.

Actually...according to sources, the two cheapest states for gas are South Carolina and New Jersey.

I think like $70 a month for DirecTV with HBO (8 channels) included. Also pay a $149 yearly fee for the NFL Sunday ticket.

Nah, I looked it up, the average price here is $2.61/gallon, and in Colonia, NJ, where I used to live, it's $2.54/gallon. Not bad!

Gas is cheaper, too. Depends. Cheapest in VA. Also lowest taxes. Too bad about that DC thing, though. And the overall economy and growth is not as good as NC.

So I called Comcast yesterday to talk about cheaper TV - the package you have - they said was "10.95 / month"....

In Puyallup I had the basic package. It costs ~$15 a month after taxes and such.

Since I just got an HD TV, we get the HD package. That plus a cable 10Mbps internet connection runs about $100/month.

69.99 for digital w/ two tiers, HBO, family and this includes my 3 mb down cable internet.

Oh, yeah, I smoozed the lady at the cable store, the deal is up in Feb, then goes up like 20-30 bucks. She was only going to give me 6 mos at 89.99, and I put on that smile and made some quip and lo and behold I got it for that.
