Not my strong suit, but I read. Nearly all are strong on recession looming, but none-other than a FOX screaming headline story are talking depression:

The reason I hedge on a recession is because so many have been expecting one for so long and it just doesn't get here. It's hard to see a full blown recession when unemployment is where it is. Unemployment is at 3.9% and possibly trending higher but it hasn't been at 4.0 or above in almost 6 years after taking out all the pandemic BS.

And depression talk is just irresponsible. A particular set of factors led to the GD and those factors, or similar, are just not in the cards.

Went are they failing? Were they involved in mergers before failing or did the other companies take advantage of the failure?

Many business fail, including banks through poor management or even corruption. The real quandary with banks is how the depositors make out-for the implications are so broad, as opposed to a local coffeeshop.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are other "Citizens Banks" out there but this particular Citizens Bank had a whopping two branches.

What are you looking for? This happens rather frequently. That this happened in a rising interest rate environment that will wash out weaker mismanaged banks shouldn't really be that surprising.

Just that banks don't seem to be very stable right now. My bank (who I had been with for over 30 years) got bought out by a foreign bank this year. Switched to a local credit union.

My apologies for pointing out your questionable links. Idiots on youtube screaming about the failure of a two-branch bank in small-town Iowa is ridiculous when major banks are sporting billions in unrealized losses on their balance sheets. You need better discernment. At least unrealized losses might be a problem someday.
