um psycho... what the heck are you talking about? We are just discussing the Nobel Peace Prize which is set to be announced this week. Whats silly or ignorant about being curious about it?

The tightlipped committee keeps the names of candidates secret for 50 years. However, thousands of people have nomination rights, and some announce their choice. Lundestad said the list quickly gets reduced to a few names, which staff then study in depth. After four or five meetings, a winner is picked by consensus, and announced in mid-October.


hard to say when we don't even know who all the nominees are.....I read somewhere there are 191 nominations......

Well if it did. It was because the sun got too hot. As, so far, there have been no signs that life ever existed on Mars. They are still looking for it. Sucks for the global warming people when another planet is going through it as well. Must have been all those SUV's. Somehow Bush will be blamed for it though.

This is my first post, I was going to do an Introduction post, but I can't actually figure out where exactly the Introduction section of this forum is.

Anyhow, I think it's ridiculous that Al Gore was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, the last time I checked, all of this Environmentalist mumbo jumbo had NOTHING to do with attempting to further world peace.

The Nobel Prize Committee also made themselves into a joke by giving a prize to Doris Lessing, I mean the woman isn't even a literary great, she's certainly no Samuel Beckett for sure, so Gore and Lessing have reduced the entire Nobel Prize Committee into being a farce.

Personally, I think the Buddhist Monks who were standing up against a Military Dictatorship in Burma SHOULD have been given a Nobel Prize.
