Labs are great big love babies. I love them but then I love all dogs. My lab mix love baby died last year. Damn he was a good dog. I was lucky to have known him. To think some asshole just threw him away? He and I both won on that deal. Heres to you my beautiful Hank boy:thewave:

I cried for two days straight. I would open my eyse in the morning and tears would just start flowing. It was so weird I would be just sitting their doing my noral things and without any real emotion but my eyuas would not stop crying. He was a good boy and he was only 9 but spent his last year blind and diabetic. Im crying now as I wrtite this as I do most of the times I think of him. He had as good a life as a dog could have though so that part makes me feel good. I will aways have rescued dogs. They are so happy to be treated kindly. Hanks first year wasnt so good from what I was told but the rest of his life was great. I still have my Austrailian Shepard and she is my best buddy and we do everything together. Damn a world without dogs would hardly be worth living in.

I take mine girl to the dog park almost every day and just have a great time playing with had making friends with ohter peoples dogs the whole time. I would have as many dogs as I could physically care for if I could. It would be heaven to me to have a dog rescue ranch on the beach in so cal where I took in and cared for as may dogs as I could. That is my dream retirement. Maybe someday.

Nice pics. I'd love to have a dog, but I can't really take the time to train a dog, plus my apartment complex won't let me have one, anyway.
We had to put down our family dog about two years ago. I was really sad, but he was suffering, it was the right thing to do.

The first one? Classic 'rule of thirds' composition and nice use of space having Noah look into the picture. It could use a bit of tweaking in post processing to give it more contrast, but it's a nice picture as is.
The second one has his nose cropped off. ;)

Black and white is just so "Artsy". Actually it has always had more to do with the fact that most photography students had access to black and white developing equipment and it was less expensive and easier to do. They pretended it was much more artistic than color and the public bought it....... kinda like the way the public has bought into Van Gogh and Picasso's supposed genius, they believe anything "experts" tell them. Yea, if they were geniuses, what can you say about Rembrandt's painting ability or Michelangelo's sculpture, are they genius to the millionth power?
Black and white is the absence of color, I see in color and like it, black and white just looks old unless heavy post processing is done like Mr. Adams did with his work.
I like your dog but then again I like dogs in general. I know very little about Noah from these two shots, I don't even know what color he is. It's alright if you like them though, just stating my opinion, as useless as it is.:cool:

I don't like it for pictures of things like mountains and horizons. You showed a good example of when not to use it with that flower.

I now know much more about Noah, nice looking guy. I especially like that I can look into his eyes and see a kind heart. I also see he is not a yellow lab but more a light chocolate guy. I also would have never guessed that was a blue tennis ball, I've never seen a blue tennis ball.

Good example of how you can bring out a lot more feeling with a little work. Have you ever seen any of Ansel Adam's shots without the post darkroom work? Truely the difference of night and day. I saw an article that showed a straight print of a landscape with a cemetery in it, it had none of the drama he put into it in the dark room.

I've not seen any of Ansel's work done as straight prints. Do you have any links?

I saw it in a photography magazine a year ago, I don't remember the name of the publication. It was definitely a real eye opener. Ansel would have loved photoshop, there is no doubt in my mind.

Nothing pops out at me.....it was a big article and I would think it had some of his work on the cover to make me open it up.
The Art supply store that I worked at had a frame shop inside of it and a customer brought in an original print to be framed....... this was around 15 years ago and I believe it was priced at 25,000 dollars. It was quite impressive (about 24 x 36). I guess Yosemite still has his gallery in the valley. If you've never been.... it is a must see both Winter and Summer. June is good for waterfall volume but you also get the tourists. It's a lot less crowded in Winter. Like the Grand Canyon it will definitely put you in your place as far as being human and feeling like no more than an ant. Glacier point is a great spot as well as inspiration point where so many spectacular shots have been taken.
I've been there during the summer and winter and both are equally inspiring....... it is the ultimate open aired natural cathedral.
Sorry Obama, for messing up your thread but I do like Noah, does he have webbed feet? I've always loved that about Labs.
