https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/very-probable-that-swiss-will-freeze-russian-assets-president-2022-02-27/Saw that this morning.

Get the idea the entire free World is tired of all this shit? Was thinking last night while out having a smoke, checking out the stars. Been a long time since I did that thinking at any second it could all just be gone. Might not be the greatest shit in the universe. but it's all we've got :)

Amazing that Switzerland is helping. I even thought about it for a moment a couple days ago with the SWIFT and banking sanctions being discussed, but immediately dismissed it as out of the question.

Guess where the primary hiding place is for Putin & his Oligarchs?

It's not callous bloodshed, destruction and suffering of innocents that gets the attention of guys like these, it's money. This is going to really ratchet up the pain on those enabling Putin.

How long before Putin starts grabbing industry to pay for this? This is going to be unprecedented and intensely interesting.

Another unexpected development is China making the announcement that they won't issue any letters of credit to Russia to move oil or gas to market. They must
be impressed with the near - universal effort to crush Putin's economy.

Putin suspended the Russian stock market today, but the ruble is almost worthless as of now. 20% interest isn't going to fix anything.

Been thinking in regard to China that they're thinking more along the ines "but for the Grace of God ...". Might be redrawing their Taiwan conquest plans.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Honestly, none of us expected this sort of unity. Biden is still trying to pussyfoot around with half-assed measures but is forced to keep up with real, actual leaders making real & punishing moves.

I think Taiwan is now safe. China doesn't want any part of this kind of financial destruction.

Not that I disagree but I think China could handle it better than Russia.

Militarily or weathering the universal sanctions?

You can't make this stuff up.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10561299/AOC-Bernies-Democratic-Socialists-group-blames-Russia-invasion-demands-end-NATO.html

The left-wing group Democratic Socialists of America has been under fire over the weekend after calling for the dissolution of NATO's Western alliance and blaming the United States' 'imperialist expansionism' for Russia's unprovoked attack on Ukraine.

The DSA, which boasts high-profile members like New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, released a Saturday night statement condemning Russia's invasion and calling for Vladimir Putin to immediately recall his troops.

Immediately after demanding a ceasefire the progressive group also called for an end to 'further intervention' -- even as Kyiv's own top officials have invited Europeans and other global allies to come take up arms and fight Moscow's military.

Humor or fact?

Sanctions. They are much more tied in globally. I'd be happy to be wrong.

One advantage that Putin enjoys is energy independence, Xi is utterly reliant on importing his.

With the same coordination Putin is experiencing, I think they'd be in a world of hurt as well, but yeah... they're definitely in a better position going into it.

Let's hope Xi learns from Vlad's misadventures.

Let's hope Xi learns from Vlad's misadventures.Xi's not ready. He's got a plan and it includes World domination as much as Putin's. Putin is trying to carry his out prematurely without the infrastructure to support it.

Xi is building his infrastructure first and not attacking before the Deathstar is complete. (That always fails :))

I have long suspected Xi's ultimate goal is to put the US in the exact position Putin has put Russia in. Rather, just keep us aimed in the right direction and we will do it to ourselves. Nowhere is putting China in the hot seat part of any Chinese plan.

If all this done to Russia was being done to the U.S.,
would folks here think it's time to go to war with those who were doing it?

would folks here think it's time to go to war with those who were doing it?Fair question. Have to know why it was being done. What I stated above is a malicious, subversive daily attack at every turn in order to reset international perception of us. It's worked on you and your generation who always sees us as the bad guys.

Can you imagine US public reaction to doing something like Putin is doing? I'm not talking about our delusional regime changes. A territorial land grab? While the US is in no short supply of them, only fools would expect to not be retaliated against.
