Cancel Culture; not just of the left.

I'm about done with Trump. China and Russia sign a deal. Biden removes sanctions on Iran.
While the supposed shoe-in for 24 is cherrypicking the deck for personal revenge. Not a word about Russia, China and/or Iran.
Not very Presidential, and piss-poor leadership. Priorities are on "I/Me" rather than what's facing this Nation and the People.

Our political machinations are going to seem very regrettable if the current foreign threats continue on the set trajectories. As you mentioned, there may not be time for do overs.
While there's no doubt the left was milking the covid powers and push towards socialism; the right have been lining up to protect one person, at the expense of all others. In both cases the `right` and `left` are actually small in numbers regarding true believers, but neither have any tolerance for moderate voices.

I weighed adding my Trump stance to this thread or starting a new one re: voting. Went with the latter :) Doesn't matter. I know there are those who still support Trump posting. They and I will just have to come to an understanding of polite disagreement. I suck at self-censorship and am even worse at lying.
I am VERY concerned he's pulling all this shady crap to try stacking the deck for himself while there is a real possibility he isn't the GOP nominee in 24. How does a non-Trump President operate with a bunch of hand-picked Trump loyalists? One thing we CAN already see for sure is Trump will try to destroy any of them, Republican or not, incumbent or not.
That doesn't work in the GOPs favor, Trump or not.

Yep, welcome to my world. Cognitive dissonance makes it very difficult to reject someone or something one has been very committed to, but in the larger scheme may have been wrong. For myself it was watching Trump implementing policies that truly were good for the country, while still being the character I'd assumed he was. He kept dividing the country and party while leading the country from multiple pitfalls. Policies won my vote. He still lost. Others looked at the divisions and chose differently. There decisions led to Biden and January 6th AND GA special Senate races.
Biden hasn't gotten better, neither has Trump. Meanwhile our country's real enemies have had years to plan our reckoning.

That irks me to no end. The statement is exactly correct. Meanwhile, our bureaucrats have been resting on the laurels earned by better men than they'll ever be. These societies aligned against us have had since before we existed to plan their crap. I know enough of the Eastern mind to know that they plan to win in the END, no matter how many lifetimes it takes. On the other hand, we want "our boys home for Christmas".
Little history: The "native Americans" thought in terms of battles while the white man thought in terms of war to the complete destruction of the enemy. They also thought in terms of anything outside the tribe was the enemy. They couldn't get along long enough to come together as one people, as whites did, and destroy the invaders while they had the chance.
As long as we think in terms of battles, and insulate ourselves in our little tribes, we aren't going to win crap. And these cultures/countries that have been around for thousands of years? They'll still be there. We'll be a flash in the pan joke in one of their history books as told by the victors.

Indeed. Even when one gets around to seeing the real struggle, you may even 'win the war,' and still lose your identit. UK, following the world wars. To win, it took US at the end of dithering by Chamberlain, but their price was empire. For better or worse that was the cost.
Same with the Native American example you site.
