UPDATED 9:42 AM PT – Saturday, August 21, 2021The U.S. Embassy has warned American citizens in Afghanistan to stay away from the Kabul airport. In a security alert (https://af.usembassy.gov/security-alert-embassy-kabul-afghanistan-august-21-2021/) on Saturday, the embassy advised any American hoping to escape the nation through the airport in Kabul to wait.
The embassy went on to cite security concerns near the airport’s gates. Embassy officials did not elaborate on the potential threat, but added the embassy would contact registered American citizens with updates on the situation.

The security alert comes just hours after Joe Biden promised to retrieve American citizens and Afghans who helped the U.S. and bring them to the states safely.

UPDATED 7:40 AM PT – Saturday, August 21, 2021The U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said American citizens were being beaten by the Taliban in attempt to evacuate Afghanistan. Austin reportedly made the claim to members of Congress on a call on Friday, which directly contradicted Joe Biden comments an hour earlier when he said there was no danger to Americans leaving the country.
None of the military officers or administration officials on the call could say how many Americans were still in need of evacuation from Kabul. However, the Pentagon’s top spokesman has taken the word of the Taliban who said they were allowing safe passage for Americans to evacuate.


Taliban Spokesman Suhail Shaheen went on to explain, “you may have seen our statement in this regard, not once but several times, saying that there is no risk to embassies, diplomats from our side.”
Meanwhile, some on the call have expressed dissatisfaction with how the call with the defense secretary went, as many have felt their most pressing concerns went ignored.

As if the other Americans(the huge majority) there crying to get out- suddenly do not exist....
And maybe biden's billion dollar buddies know that is all the admin cares about-- optics.

Myself, I have to wonder what share of those gifted billions will the Taliban use to buy Biden's son/ partner's
