This shit is getting out of hand. Can't stand hackers myself. And now hackers have moved on from regular computers or ransomware to maybe disable a computer - and now they are going after large/huge companies that rely on massive production. More importantly, places that need their systems and software in line in order to produce. It goes offline and business comes to a halt.
Until they pay up. Or figure out how to fix whatever is wrong - and perhaps having stronger security in the future. But the folks doing this to businesses should be shot IMO. But they are based in Russia. And likely in the Kremlin.

Ransomware attack on JBS, world's largest meat producer, hits U.S. plants
A ransomware attack on the world's largest meat processing company is disrupting production around the world just weeks after a similar incident shut down a U.S. oil pipeline. Nearly 20% of beef production in the U.S. may be at risk, according to Bloomberg News.
JBS SA of Brazil notified the U.S. government of a ransom demand from a criminal organization likely based in Russia, White House principal deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed Tuesday. She said the White House and the Department of Agriculture have been in touch with the company several times this week.
JBS has extensive facilities in the U.S., including processing plants in Texas and Colorado. Two shifts were canceled Tuesday at JBS' meatpacking plant in Greeley, Colorado, according to UFCW Local 7, which represents 3,000 workers at the plant.

What should we as a nation expect with Biden now holding the reins?
No other nation or its government fears the corrupt old POS.
As they know he can be bought, he can be fooled, he can be used and he can be a very useful tool
in their agenda to overcome us, use use, steal from us, mistreat us, deceive us, counter us, and take every advantage
available to weaken us! Same as they think and do with the entire Dem party--which many of them --OWN!
ESPECIALLY CHINA...
I fully expect Biden to cost this nation a few trillion dollars in his election stolen position as President.
A sad reality and one that certainly points toward our future demise--if not corrected.
And sadly nothing seems to show that it will ever be corrected, imho.-Tyr

They paid the pipeline ransom, so far no repercussions. When that is the response, expect more of the same.

Common sense-- if you reward bad behavior-- you encourage more of it.
It is also basic human nature.
Seems that Biden and the dems think rewarding it makes it go away.
What we have now is the globalists by way of dem party completely controlling the office of the PRESIDENT..
And doing so in their usual corrupt, blundering, cowardly and inept way, imho.--Tyr

And the reason why the drastic and quick increases is due to the success rate!
On my computer I would rather completely wipe it and start over & even lose everything I lost before I pay some damn hacker. So they got wise, and started working on places that would have little choice but to pay up & such places will pay much much more.

Wasn't aware until I read Kath's post and I think she is spot on, they paid up.
JBS beef plant workers scheduled to return to work
WASHINGTON/CHICAGO, June 2 (Reuters) - JBS SA employees were scheduled to return to U.S. meat plants on Wednesday, a day after the company's beef operations stopped following a ransomware attack.
A notorious Russia-linked hacking group is behind the cyberattack against JBS that disrupted meat production in North America and Australia, a source familiar with the matter said.
Brazil's JBS controls about 20% of the slaughtering capacity for U.S. cattle and hogs, so the plants' reopening should prevent a severe supply chain disruption at a time consumers are already facing high meat prices and general food inflation.
JBS, the world's largest meatpacker, said on Tuesday night it had made "significant progress in resolving the cyberattack."
The "vast majority" of the company's beef, pork, poultry and prepared foods plants will be operational on Wednesday, according to a statement.
The cyberattack followed one last month by a group with ties to Russia on Colonial Pipeline, the largest fuel pipeline in the United States, which crippled fuel delivery for several days in the U.S. Southeast.
The cyber gang goes by the name REvil, the source said.
Cybersecurity investigators have previously said they believe some members of the REvil ransomware team are based in Russia. The prolific ransomware group, which is perhaps best known for attacking an Apple Inc supplier named Quanta Computer earlier this year, has previously posted in Russian on cybercrime forums, marketing stolen data.

No question. It's just not a who-happens-to-be-in-the-white-house globalist thing.

Interesting target for ransomware. Like the oil pipeline, JBS is a commodity with a constant supply that has to managed. The processing plants are already under a strain, states are opening up for restaurant business and demanding is rapidly growing. Processors were already struggling to keep up with labor constraints putting pressure on the situation. Now add a ransomware attack to the equation and things get more messing. All of the beef and pork put in boxes have to be weighed and labelled. So those systems have been affected and nothing can be processed. This will have a ripple effect in an already price inflated market. So these attacks certainly have some thought behind them, were ever they are coming from. This is not good for our country.

How bad will this get before it gets any better?
How many other things do we use that the machinery relies upon software to operate? A LOT. Not to mention software systems galore. What are these people capable of getting into? What is laxing at these places that they are getting in to begin with?

NYC’s Subway Operator and Martha’s Vineyard Ferry Latest to Report Cyberattacks
Attacks on infrastructure are part of a global criminal pivot from stealing data to hobbling operations
Revelations of cyberattacks on transportation systems in New York and Massachusetts heightened concerns about the threat to U.S. businesses and essential services Wednesday, after hackers held hostage the world’s largest meat processor this week.
An attack on JBS SA, the world’s biggest meat company by sales, upended U.S. meat supplies after it caused JBS’s plants to temporarily shut down. JBS said it restarted most of its plants on Wednesday, and that it anticipated operating at close to full capacity Thursday. White House officials said the hacking was likely carried out by a group based in Russia, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation attributed the attack to REvil, a criminal ransomware gang.
On Wednesday, a ransomware attack disrupted ferry services in Massachusetts. New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority also revealed Wednesday that it had been hacked in April, although the attack didn’t disrupt operations, including the city’s subway system.
In May, the operator of an essential pipeline bringing gasoline to parts of the East Coast paid about $4.4 million to regain control of its operations and restore service.
San Diego-based Scripps Health said Tuesday that it is still recovering from a cyberattack it discovered on May 1 that disrupted its patient portal, electronic medical records, radiology and other systems and canceled or delayed appointments at its hospitals and clinics.
Emboldened by recent successes, hackers have shifted their focus away from data-rich companies such as retailers, financial institutions and insurance companies to providers of key public needs such as hospitals, transportation and food. The trend is part of a global criminal pivot from stealing data to hobbling operations via ransomware, where companies are hit with demands for million-dollar payments to regain control of their operating systems.
President Biden said Wednesday he would look closely at whether to retaliate against Russia for the attacks. The president plans to bring up the problem of ransomware during a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Geneva planned for June 16, the White House said. Russian officials didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
Security professionals whose business is helping companies and organizations protect and manage against these attacks have warned that it is only likely to get worse.

Sad truth is, the Biden administration is too concerned about stirring up division between blacks and whites, and promoting certain issues concerning sexual perversions etc. to give the proper concern and swift -decisive action that this very, very serious issues desperately needs. And media will give the idiot Biden cover on that grievous error and lapse in true leadership- actually that incompetent blindness and failure of job performance!
Division, vaccine promotion, trillion dollar debt creation, nation weakening, promoting of progressive liberalism -leftist ideology and other dumbass bull the dem party favors is on that supposedly majestic agenda that the dem-enslaved media claims the brilliant leader Biden is doing!
Actually it is insanity on parade that is being heralded as brilliant and decisive leadership.
As such its true definition is tragedy and power-mad maneuvering by a totally corrupt and evil entity that we call the dem party, imho.-Tyr
