So they are expecting the largest protest yet on Saturday and Bowser wants additional law enforcement removed for the event. SHe IS an idiot, but I see this as nothing more than political posturing.

Using the one place the President IS in charge of as an example, no one has to guess how the President would handle rioters/looters in the States if so inclined.

OAN Newsroom
UPDATED 1:15 PM PT — Friday, June 5, 2020President Trump took aim at D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser after she requested all additional federal law enforcement and military personnel to withdraw from the city.
“The incompetent mayor, whose budget is totally out of control and is constantly coming back for handouts, is now fighting with the National Guard, who saved her from great embarrassment,” the president wrote on Twitter.
According to him, if Mayor Bowser “doesn’t treat these men and women well, then we’ll bring in a different group.”

Bowser formally issued a plea to the president in a letter Friday, asking him to remove the “extraordinary federal law enforcement and military presence” from the city. The mayor claimed the protests have been peaceful and suggested the extra units are “inflaming” the demonstrations.
“There were zero arrests associated with the peaceful demonstrations that we had here in our city,” she said. “There was no damage to MPD property, there was no MPD injuries.”

In recent days, hundreds of National Guard troops have poured into D.C. to help bolster security for the White House and federal monuments. President Trump has touted the move as an example for states across the U.S.

“We need safety in our cities. When they don’t take care of it, we took care of it. In Washington, D.C., I said two days ago, this is the safest place on earth. We brought in incredible people, they took care of the situation very easily. It was very easy for them.” – Donald Trump, 45th President of the United StatesMayor Bowser has repeatedly challenged the president’s decision since. She argued he does not have the legal authority to make such a decision in her jurisdiction.
“Does the president have authority to request guard from other states?” she asked. “I have the authority to request guard from other states, I have not requested guard from any state.”
In addition to her formal letter to the president, reports (https://www.foxnews.com/politics/gops-mike-lee-blasts-claim-of-dc-plan-to-evict-national-guard-troops-from-city-hotels) stated Bowser has been making underground moves to remove law enforcement from the city. She’s reportedly planning to expel at least 1,200 National Guard members by cancelling their hotel accommodations.

GOP senators have spoken out against these plans. They have said, if these reports are true, Bowser is acting inappropriately and unpatriotically.
In a recent Twitter post, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) announced he will do “everything possible to push back against this outrage against the men and women of our National Guard.”
“The mayor of D.C. should thank them, not evict them,” he added.

The debate on extra law enforcement comes as officials predicted this Saturday will show the largest protest yet, with a potential to bring more violence and destruction to the nation’s capital.https://www.oann.com/president-trump-slams-d-c-mayor-bowser-for-requesting-withdrawal-of-additional-fed-law-enforcement/

And it may be fine for some...

And when the inevitable arrive, the antifa type, opportunistic looting type - less and less will be around to protect others.

They need a MASSIVE presence at all these places to keep the law and order. All good if no one starts to riot. And if they do, help is of course there as it was designed.

Who is in charge of the city, the President or the mayor?
Instead of dispersing crowds through violence and gas, why doesn't President Trump address the gathering? It's not a sign of weakness to negotiate. Hiding in an underground bunker is a sign of weakness. Using force above all else is a sign of weakness.

A bunch of blacks that act like when a black person is killed by a white cop it's some major-ass big deal more than when a black cop kills a white? Which we NEVER hear of.

I'm having a hard time distinguishing between what the Kung flu did to the country and what a bunch of victims are doing to it.

I have not only endured a Vietnam War protest in the District as a kid, but I was stationed there. It's a sardine can and if you live south or east you're crossing one of 3 bridges. There's no way on a good day even without the shadow of the virus hanging overhead, there's only one way you're getting out of the place: get behind dad and he starts slamming a path through the rioters. Not everyone has such a luxury. Having a Grade A pr*ck for a dad did occasionally prove useful. He'd been back from Nam for a year and the protesters were protesting HIM. Tsk tsk.

Y'all can say what you want. If everyone knows antifa and other criminals are using peaceful protesters as camouflage and concealment then someone needs to find a better way to control them, and the peaceful protesters are complicit in providing the camouflage and concealment because we all know it's coming.

Peaceful protesters should be left in peace.

Any rioters or looters out there, whether lonesome or with the peaceful folks, need to be treated accordingly. Strength is ensuring safety for everyone. And when folks break the laws, they most definitely should be punished.

The mayor may be in charge of the city, but when people start pushing into White House space, the feds are going to be there to protect the president and everyone in the WH.

We ALREADY have quite a few places that stood down with no guard and a limited police presence. Those places burned away and were destroyed and more looting in such areas than anywhere else. No thank you, I'll take the strength, the protection.

Your grasp of history is obviously lacking. You mean my grasp of leftwingnut revisionist history is sorely lacking? Rightly so. History doesn't change just because the revisionists say so. It just puts them in denial and doomed to repeat the mistakes they try to erase and could have learned from.

But you'r free to take your best shot.

History is the past, which can not be altered. The right to protest is written into the Constitution. America was founded on protest. A few months ago, people opposed to Covid-19 restrictions staged protest marches in many cities. Some of the protesters were armed. None of them were met by flash bombs and tear gas. President Trump didn't accuse them of being thugs and terrorists. Why are these protests different? These people were not angry because they couldn't get a hair cut or enjoy a beer after work. They were angry because a police officer killed someone. A police officer with a history of racial hatred. As three other police officers watched. If you looked at photos and video, the peaceful protesters were not armed. The groups were quite racially mixed. As were the rioters and looters. The mobs contained quite a few members of white supremacist groups looking to fan the flames of racial hatred. If Antifa is going to be classified as a "terrorist group," so should armed gangs like the Proud Boys.

I know. ANd no such thing as the slippery slope you lefties are dragging the whole country down the tubes on. Heard all this lame-ass shit before.

If you bothered to read before opening that crater-size maw of yours, NO ONE on this board that I have seen has stated what the cop did was okay. Was close to okay. Or even in their wildest imaginations could it be misconstrued as okay. Matter of fact, I think most everyone condemned it, to include myself.

Here's the difference between YOUR bullshit and my fact: I have previously and recently stated had this been a white man and a black cop we wouldn't even know about it, much less a bunch of idiots terrorizing their own cities, so you can cry that river upstream to someone else. EVEN IF there was no justification whatsoever such as in this case. Whites would be calling for the fucker to be tried and get the damned chair. Or needle. LIKE IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE DONE IN A CIVILIZED NATION WITH LAWS.

Figured you might have learned something by now. Not like you ain't had the free time.

Suckled by the tit of Zinn.Need to get her to read your thread on the rewriting of history and explain the "no such thing as revisionist history" BS. Then again, it is rather lengthy and requires a pretty high reading and comprehension level (that means above 3rd grade for lefties). Probably can't hang :)

Do you really think the president ordered the violence and gas? Do you really think he asked to be taken to the bunker? The secret service makes those decisions.

Who do you think the mayor is going to ask for help when the city's LE can't handle the crowd? Should Trump say KMA when she pleads for help?

I'll repeat what's been asked ... what is there to negotiate?

And your statement "using force above all else is sign of weakness" is out of context. The people on the ground assessing the situation make that decision. Using force is situational and can't be covered by a blanket statement like yours.

Yep, here's what I said ...

If you truly want to know, go get a history book from the 60s or 70s and you'll see the difference. Ask Kath about the 1619 Project. Liberal newspaper tries to rewrite history.

I doubt we will hear anything from her about it.

I see what's happening today and just smh. So much is because we no longer teach civics and history in schools. What they pass off as either is empty of inspiration. Worse yet, many teachers now are also ignorant of actual history or applying historical evaluation methods. I watched teachers plan lessons around 1st person documents, using them to make history fit their narrative. The students of course, clueless. Not the kids fault, but they aren't learning history.

Place more importance not on teaching their students, but rather admitting they only have specialized in some not-so-realistic subjects that earned them their teaching documents.

Honestly speaking. I SWEAR. I met a young lady in a craft shop with my wife who appeared to be in her possibly mid-twenties, but looked younger. I was looking for navy type models of ships which are few these days. I picked up the Revell kit of the U.S.S. Arizona and saw the price. I couldn't believe it and she heard me tell my wife it was too expensive (over 100 bucks). The young lady suggested I get a more Modern model of two destroyers (which were less than six inches long) not what I wanted, and she told me "Nobody even knows about that OLD ship!"

That about knocked me out of my shoes when I heard that. My wife grabbed my arm and we moved to another aisle in the store as I felt myself turning red.

That is the intelligence of a TEACHER? Teaching our kids today? No wonder they stopped teaching HISTORY in most Govt. schools. The teachers seem to be as Uninformed as their students.

GOD HELP US ALL!

Lefties are very unoriginal. They get something THEY think sounds good and beat it worse than ev and his masks.
