Or are they just as deserving as others since they too have bills to pay? All around sucky situation.

But the tenants are getting the shitty end. They aren't allowed out to make money, yet some landlords are demanding payment. Where do they think the money is coming from? But it's the ones with the really out there attitudes that get me - pointing out that folks should have gotten a check by now - or worse, checking and telling them you checked!

I had a half dozen rentals back 8n the 1990s, and can remember very clearly how it felt when I had to pay a mortgage without recieving a rent payment. I can't help siding with the landlord on this one.

I was thinking the same thing. If the tenants don't pay their rent, then how does the land owner pay their mortgage?

It's a horrible situation for all, and in my opinion, unwarranted. There's too much fear mongering and panic going on, and the tyranny is enough that everyone should be all but up in arms.

I'm just hoping that sooner or later, enough people speak up and start asking, who the hell gave all these people the POWER to just IGNORE people's constitutional rights? What's going on is truly alarming.

Most landlords are jerks because so many tenants are jerks. I've done a little property management and maintenance, had landlords advise me to get into rental properties. But knowing them, seeing their frustration over unpaid rents, dealing with evictions, and spiraling property taxes, no thank you. My house is paid off so the only thing evicted around here is ants.

Yeah I've got a good friend that buys distressed properties and flips them, but also has a couple rented, and I even rented my place here from him for 5 years before I bought it. But the poor bastard is constantly working his ass off, and listening to some of the horror stories about trying to collect rent and/or evict someone, that's something I would never want to deal with.

I'm pretty handy myself. I've worked a lot of construction in my life, and my brother in law's family in MT even owned a lumber yard with their construction company, and I worked for them and even ran that lumber yard at one point. But I see opportunities around here where I could buy a little property and fix it up to rent, and I know dang well I'd have someone in it renting in a heart beat. But I do not want the head ache.

My place is getting close to being paid too, and in fact I'm right in the middle of refinancing it at a lower interest rate, which is also going to lower my monthly premium. But I owe so little at this point that I can actually make double payments, and get this place paid off pretty quick. I also get my property taxes back because I'm a 100% service connected disabled veteran, so once this place is paid off, I'll live here completely free.

Ain't nobody getting evicted from here either, but I'm with ya about the ants... :thumb:

I've replaced my rentals with dividend stocks, much less trouble.

The lefty/socialist morons are going to fight tooth and nail to hold on to every inroad made against our freedoms and as I previously stated, it's a lot easier to get this crap passed while everyone is quivering in fear looking for anything that might "save them" from death. I digress, railing on one of my favorite topics :)

I don't side with the landlord because everyone else is eating d*ck right now too. Not everyone, but most. The landlords need to step up and swallow their share like everyone else. Regardless agreeing with who is doing what right now, some people just cannot go back to work until they are allowed to.

Throwing them out on the street is not going to help a damned thing. The landlord STILL isn't getting his money and I haven't heard of renters, the most vulnerable as far as home stability goes, lining up to fill the vacancies.

Besides, it's the Christian thing to do. I'd rather carry a good tenant over a couple of months than put them out in the street with nowhere to go while I STILL have to pay mortgage on what would be an empty dwelling.

I tend to your version too. Especially for tenants that keep the building up and have always been on time with payments or at the very least transparent on intention to make right.

Then there are those who will use this 'crisis' to try to get out of rent, not ok.

Thing is though, in many cases it very well may be that if the landlord doesn't get the rent, then they also lose the property, so not only will be renter be out of their apartment, the landlord will lose the property. Then they're both out. I just see this as a case of, "shit rolls downhill."

That's what I was eluding to.

That's what I was eluding to.Nothing's perfect and I certainly understand your point. The landlord should have the same avenues for relief as the tenant, IMO. I'm sure all don't.

Again, if he's going to lose the property, that takes awhile most places I've lived. I'd let the people stay. What's the harm? Now I'm not talking the scumbags who bust holes in your wall and don't keep up the property, pay late all the time, etc. We know those people exist.

In the meantime, the way out for both may become available. I suspect those that believed "putting the economy on hold" wasn't going to affect EVERYONE, didn't put too much thought into this.
