It was once seen as something of a success story - a region that worked to contain, trace and isolate the virus - leading to a huge drop in numbers. But Hokkaido is in the spotlight again as it struggles to deal with a second wave of infections.


In late February, Hokkaido became the first place in Japan to declare a state of emergency due to Covid-19.


Schools were closed, large-scale gatherings cancelled and people "encouraged" to stay at home. The local government pursued the virus with determination - aggressively tracing and isolating anyone who'd had contact with victims.


The policy worked and by mid-March the number of new cases had fallen back to one or two a day. On 19 March the state of emergency was lifted, and at the beginning of April, schools re-opened.


But now, just 26 days after the state of emergency was lifted, a new one has had to be imposed.

Lots of folks said things, most were wrong. They're learning. (Well not Biden.)

AP is reporting this today. One thing to keep in mind though, when ventilators were needed 'within a few weeks' alternatives came into existence. Hopefully they'll find the way to making and giving the tests:

Any feedback on what China has told the world over time?

And what about the WHO and the things they told the world?

And the CDC and others that all ran with the 3.4% from WHO and others?

And what about Pelosi, Schumer, AOC, Schiff, CBS,NBC,ABC and so many others saying to get out there, hit Chinese restaurants? And everything else that was contrary to what Trump and other stated?

Serious question, Pete. Why the finger pointing to just Trump, and no posts about China, Who, CDC, Democrats who got things wrong and so many others that made mistakes? I don't condemn them, it's an evolving situation and all of them were trying to get the info out to the best of their knowledge at the time. But I covered every last one of them, good or bad.

But you seem hell bent on simply Trump alone and ignoring everyone else and all of the mistakes.

Like I said, seriously Pete, why not fairly cover all of them, and not blame but realize mistakes were made in an evolving situation?

Will you admit that all of those others made mistakes as well?

Will you admit that China lied? And the WHO ran along with them? And that much of the info Trump reported on was based on reports from them and the like?

Or will you continue far left antics and ignore the massive majority of all of this and try to blame one person solely that was nowhere near where things broke out?
