Trump Says White House Coronavirus Model Overestimated Number Of Hospital Beds Needed

President Donald Trump said Sunday that the coronavirus model the White House has been using overestimated the number of beds that would be needed to treat patients.

The president admitted that the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) model his administration was using has been off on the number of hospital beds needed, but did not say whether he would be open to changing the type of models he’s been using.

“It’s turning out that we need less hospital beds,” Trump said at the coronavirus task force’s daily press briefing. “We may have models, but we’ve been sort of saying that. In New York, we were saying we think you’re gonna need less.”

New York has become the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak in the U.S., but has not faced the hospital shortages projected by the IHME model, which did account for social distancing in its original projections.

The model projected that New York would need 65,400 hospital beds by April 4, but only 15,905 were actually used, according to former New York Times reporter Alex Berenson.

This is quite stunning.

The government models used to predict the extent of the coronavirus pandemic are off by huge margins in the latest coronavirus tracking numbers.

The government predictions reported by the IMHE Covid Tracking (https://covidtracking.com/data/ ) for Apr 5th were as follows:

– All beds needed: 179,267
– ICU beds needed: 33,176
– Invasive ventilators: 26,544

I'd much rather be cautious and assume the worst.

And it's impossible to say with the mass isolation if that stopped it in it's tracks, or at least greatly mitigated the spread.

As the left condemns Trump for evolving answers.... did they ever think that he has those who know this shit better than him, since he's no doctor, and he's doing his best to keep us all up to date? As everyone else is doing out there?

From 2.2 million deaths to expect - down to 82,000 approx in 8 days! Talk about things changing. Now, for example, will the left and the MSM call for their heads, the heads of the doctors they hosted? Their own reports? Will ALL these doctors and other folks reporting positive about the Hydro mix, will they all be brought up on charges of crimes to humanity?

Or will folks ever understand how a deadly virus spreads, mutates and changes as it goes along.

This is a massive change, along with others, and I am not angry. I'd rather they be safe than sorry, and just keep us up to date instantly as things evolve. Will they go after Birx or Fauci who is their new favorites? I hope not.
