Heh heh.

I'm reminded of the savagery of a cornered animal.

This Covid-19 emergency is adversely affecting all economies, strong and weak alike. The EU has its strong economies (Gerrmany an obvious example) ... and weaker ones (Portugal, Spain, Italy).

I thought that, further down the road, either/both of Spain and Italy, who've both been hit hard by Covid-19, would ask for EU bailouts, and that the EU would struggle to accommodate them. My belief was that it'd break the EU, maybe destroy it .. which would make the UK's exit no less than timely !!

Seems, though, that the EU's stronger members are already seeing the writing on the wall, and moving to protect themselves from bailout 'obligations' ? Hardly surprising, when you think about it. The EU is under financial strain as never before, and I think its survival is at stake. HOWEVER ... the 'ideal' the EU was built on (not least porous borders ... a gift for Covid-19 !!) was always 'dodgy', if not outright fraudulent .. the EU can only be a stable entity, if all members of it are equally strong.

'Naughty' countries like Italy and Spain will be made to regret their 'poor man' status. Seems the EU will protect itself by throwing them to the debt wolves. And the EU 'ideal' is, at best, badly damaged ... at worst, in terminal decline.

I'm delighted, if so. The EU became a control-freaking colossus. Anything that cuts them down to size (literally ?), I celebrate !
