In Politics What Is 'Integrity'?

Is it keeping your word? Is it keeping your word after you face reality, even if you never say you're changing your mind? Is it principles? Is it dealing with reality and what one now sees as the best possible outcome?

Just came to mind after seeing 2 posts in a row using the word.

IMO it doesn't seem to have meaning anymore. Outdated idealism.

In US politics integrity is a unicorn. It exists but is rarer than hen's teeth.

Integrity is having a principle and holding to that principle even if doing so causes you problems or pain in your life or in the life of someone you love or agree with politically.

We could, of course, spend all day posting specific examples of US politicians - particularly Democrats - lacking ANY integrity, but I don't think that was really the purpose of this thread.
