Alexander's inclusion, he is retiring, makes this more credible-He can take much heat:

These idiots will never do what is needed. EVER. I sent my Senator and my Congressman both an email this moring.
That shooter down in Texas had been suspended from school when they realized he had two lists of students, one a rape list, the other a kill list The police were not contacted. How many of these fucking shooters have we seen with situations like this where someone KNEW they were potentially dangerous and did not contact LEOs?
New Jersey has absolutely the most draconian gun laws in this country and both of these shooters would legally have been able to purchase a gun there.
School teachers and administrators are mandatory reporters for suspected child abuse, they should be mandatory reporters for any criminal activity and having a kill list might qualify as that.
A background check can only find data that is in the system, if its not been reported that little Johnny is threatening to kill people that won't be in the system, obviously.

That was the Dayton shooter with the lists.
I'm thinking that juvenile records with actual or threatened violence or harm, should be available regarding future acts until perhaps 35. Mostly this would involve males, but seems like it is something that needs to be dealt with.
Granted it may well screw up employment for some, but perhaps parents should be made aware to teach their children of such repercussions. Would make a difference for gang recruitment too.

You're, of course, correct, I meant the Dayton kid.
I think the decision on whether something should be reported to police just needs to be taken out of a school's hands. We have at our school done that on a local level. It's automatic termination for any school employee who gets caught not reporting potential illegal activity, because a lot of times you have a kid who is troubled and breaks the law but teachers don't want them to get into trouble with the law, or parents are contacted and talk the schools into not contacting the law. And that doesn't do anyone any good, least of all the 31 people who were killed over the weekend by 2 people who probably both should have been scrutinized by law enforceent (and both probably involuntarily confined to institutions, but that's another facet completely)

I agree that this incident(s) should have been reported to the police. My understanding though is that there was a lockdown on one of these, which should have brought the police onto the campus.
I do think the idea of sealing juvie records on serious threats, (when a third of a high school stays home following a threat, it's SERIOUS. Anything with weapons, threats of weapons or physical harm, should be available if further contact comes into play. I can see a shoplifting or something minor on that level being expunged. Age should also come into play. Somehow balance taking into account youth, future employment, and the costs to society being left without warning.

Agree on all points. I don't think any adult should face consequences for misdemeanor bullshit they did when they were kids. I mean unless were talking about a security clearance
But, as I said I know our elected idiots will do something knee jerk and stupid in response to thee shootings. They won't delve into actual facts and statistics and they won't address the real issue. Instead they'll stomp the hell out of someone's right to buy a 100 round drum magazine, declare victory and then act shocked when the next shooting occurs. I have zero faith in these morons.

Actually that 100 round drum was illegal, they figured that out today.

I hadn't see that, what made it illegal?
And that really doesn't change the point . Politicians will once again pass a law that is a useless gesture.

Trying to find it, read it this morning, had to do with the actual size of the drum-how many inches. Seems you have to fill out 12 pages of extra stuff for that and it was not done.

In other words some nonsense bullshit law that doesn't actually do shit, as expected from our government.
Yes, I can see why so many people want government in charge of healthcare insurance

He as on EVERYONE's :cuckoo: list but the same people that come up with all these stupid restrictions on firearms would rather have a stroke than actually call a crazy person crazy.
Like any other laws we have on the books, they're only good if you enforce them. In the VT shooter's case, it turned out a judge didn't want to judge him so there was nothing to stop him from legally purchasing firearms.

Yup... just like I stated in the other thread, Trump and any other republicans screw around and pass some expansive new laws that gun owners see as "infringing" on the 2nd amendment, and Trump can kiss a second term b'bye. He won too many states with a skinny little margin, and if he loses that, no second term. Same thing with the republicans, they could lose the senate as well as the not taking congress back.
Maybe that's what we need. A total dem control America again, so they can throw us into full blown socialism and move to repeal the second amendment and try and confiscate all guns. That's when we'll see the second civil war, or if not that, states secede and inform the democrats that they will NOT be following ANY of their new laws. America will break up. I mean as far as guns, you will NEVER, EVER, go through Alaska and CONFISCATE all the guns. Those people NEED guns to LIVE, they are TOOLS that are absolutely NECESSARY for SURVIVAL, and even here in WI, each year we have some 600,000 people take to the woods to deer hunt, and every single one of them has a high powered rifle, and probably a whole bunch more at home. That's over a million high powered rifles in the state of WI alone, not to mention shot guns, pistols and the like. You're not going to take all those guns away, ever. I don't care who or how they think they're going to go about confiscating them either, with the MILITARY? How is that going to happen against 600,000 PEOPLE armed with HIGH POWERED RIFLES? Forty or fifty troops against 600,000? When the people start shooting back, that confiscation is going to be OVER, and we'll have anarchy.
Trump and any republican that thinks passing some new law, and red flag laws, is going to be a good thing, has to be dumber than a sack of hammers. I was also under the impression that Trump was "in tune" with the pulse of the regular Joe American citizen. Well if he thinks he can expand back ground checks and pass red flag laws and still have regular Joe American's support, he's dumber than I thought he was.
And I get no pleasure in writing any of this either, because if Trump loses support and isn't reelected, we are screwed. America is screwed. The dems take the white house back and America is absolutely FUCKED. We're in for big, BIG trouble. Obama will look like a patriotic choir boy compared to the next radical America hating POS dem in the white house.
