I do think that more study has to be done on the effects of playing violent video games, especially the long term effects, and especially those effects on individuals that are displaying signs of anti social behavior already. That's where the greater issue lies. These people probably shouldn't be playing these games, and they probably shouldn't be allowed access to a firearm, as the one weekend nut case shooter did comment that he wanted to "live out his super soldier fantasy," which obviously has a connection to his violent video game playing.

There isn't 100% consensus that playing violent video games has an effect on people, but most studies have been done on mentally stable people. I think more studies are needed on those who aren't perceived as 100% mentally stable, and what the long term effects of long term play has on them. I think there's enough proof already that they do have an effect on the player to warrant more study...

I wonder about this because what about all the men killed in war .... did their sons grow up to be degenerate criminals? Not saying his stats are wrong ... just that there must be additional factors.

Gut reaction-there's a huge difference between boys without fathers and boys who suffered the loss of their fathers. With the first, mothers are often bitter and sad/angry. In the later, may be sad, but tend to have a good example for father figure, maybe better than what a 'there' dad can be. Tend to be heroes.

I wouldn't surrender anyway under such circumstances. I would want to deprive the crowd of its carnival show as much as anything else. Nothing infuriates the public more than being deprived of its revenge.
