The Hong Kong story is receiving a lot of attention over here (.. of course, because of the historic relationship Hong Kong had with the UK). The Moscow story .. some coverage evident, though not so prominently covered -- at least, not in our domestic broadcasts.
I'd be interested to see if @Balu (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=3557) might be persuaded to come out of the woodwork, just long enough to give us all his 'take' on what happened in Moscow (that is, if he still has a means of reaching this forum) ? I'm betting he'll take a strongly pro-Authority line, maybe chuck in a denigration against those 'naughty' protesters.
So ... Balu, care to give us your thoughts ? Here's an opportunity to prove me wrong !! Care to take it ?
Give it your best ......

It's the same over here Drummond, a good bit of Hong Kong coverage but little Russia coverage. I haven't been in Hong Kong since the turnover but it was my favorite overseas destination in a previous business life. The Brits sure knew how to run a colony. It's interesting to see how China is handling the situation. Could Trump's tariffs be preventing Beijing from going full on Tienanmen Square on 'em? Choking off the cash machine during an economic downturn with Trump threatening more tariffs might not be the best move.
And ask Balu if he overheard the mayor of Moscow say, "We'er the ones that we've been waiting for! Help us perfect The People's government!"

That and international stature. I think it is in China's best interest to have an open port.
Can't agree with you on the "favorite destination in a past life" thing though. I didn't like it at all. To each his own :)

I'd like to believe it.I'm assuming your concern is in the "rightness/wrongness" and not the "this is the same ol' same ol' from Russia regardless it's name and/or what its rulers call themselves". I would be surprised it it DIDN'T happen. "Peaceful Protest in Moscow/St Petersburg". That just doesn't work. :)

I did not get what you want to hear. Everything is described and clear.
The protesters violated the Law twice:
1. When they provided false signatures in favor of candidates;
2. When they called for and participated in an unauthorized rally.
Our authorities are too moderate and soft. The provision of false lists is worth to a jail sentence. The participation in unauthorized rally should have caused an administrative arrests and penalties. Disobedience to the orders of police must have caused rubber bullets, water cannons and tear gas - the ordinary means to secure an order in all civilized countries.

Yes. Originally reported as being hospitalised because of an 'allergic reaction', now, the belief is that he was poisoned.
Our latest reports say he was only permitted ONE day in hospital .. and is now back in prison.

Our police act under the authority of their local jurisdictions. Then some are at the county level, and then the state level.
Russia - all dictated by a dictator.
More than your police, your entire country needs classes on learning what "freedom" is, and how to make independent decisions, bad or good. Learn what it's like to see votes actually count, and the people actually having more than a 'fake say' in matters. Learn that YES, sometimes the police fuck up and make stupid decisions - and then their newly worn bodycams and all the new regulations is making it quite easy to fire and/or jail those who purposely fuck up. And then learn it's better than having the police do as they wish, whenever they wish, so long as they have the OK from Dictator Putin. Learn what it's like not to have people disappear, or jailed non-stop for lame things, that simply disagree with Putin - or want democracy.
The entire government is absolute shit, which carries over to much of their military and police force who bow down instantly for DicKing Putin on whatever in the world he says.
As a law abiding citizen myself, and one who knows like 98+ % and likely more of police shootings end up being good shootings. I've never once come close to such an interaction, not even close. In Russia, the stats sure are accurate out there!! LOL

After the rally in Moscow, the Prosecutor General’s Office called for “harshly suppress” the actions before the elections
In September 2019, elections of a different level will be held in 85 regions of Russia.
Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika said that the protests that took place in Moscow should not be repeated, reports TASS. The local prosecutor's office should prevent unauthorized actions and other violations during the preparation for the elections.
“Correct the issues of the organization of duty, notification of the central office of the Prosecutor General’s Office about the current situation, and, as already mentioned, tightly stop violations, using the full range of response measures,” Chaika called.
According to First Deputy Prosecutor General Alexander Buksman, election commissions in the regions should be protected - including from terrorists. "It is especially important that the events that recently occurred in Moscow do not happen again," the department said.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, in turn, thanked the police officers who "did their duty" and participated in the suppression of the action. The mayor believes that the Libertarian party is preparing a new provocation on August 3.

The entire world watching this for many years too! No such thing as "alternatives". You want any form of real democracy, and you get the shit beat out of you or you go to prison. Make excuses all you like, the propaganda from Russia doesn't work, and makes you look sillier and sillier -and more and more like you are in love with Putin and are desperate to go around and change folks minds.

Yes, give ample opportunity to sign, then ask them to get out and explain why, and then use force if necessary to make arrest. In Russia - you just simply get beat with a baton no matter what. IF you're a lucky one. Others get the same treatment and then go to prison.

As you don't want or are unable to understand, that the violation of a State Legislation has nothing in common with democracy, I have no sense to proceed discussing this subject. Bye.
Bail if you want, won't care in the slightest bit.
Read this thread, you will read my comments. Start another, and if about BS I will point out once again the propaganda and TRUTH.
You don't like TRUTH much do you, blew?
It's obvious, Blew, that you don't like anyone disagreeing with your political propaganda. It's nauseating. :puke3::puke:
So you publicly announce placing folks on ignore as you always do. Or you run off. If that's your choice, then :fu: Mr. Blew Boy.

A good example for our policemen to follow in case of disobedience of their orders. Isn't it?

Oh , look she's white and still expected to obey the law , or face the consequences. Imagine that.
What a dumb shit, that $80 ticket probably cost her $1000 or more.

You mean, a choice not approved of by 'Mother Russia' ?
Why ... how DARE they:rolleyes:. You know, thinking they have a right to run their own affairs, govern themselves ... 'nonsense' like that, eh ?:rolleyes:
'Might is Right'. You really think the end justifies the means, & all that ...

@Drummond (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=2287) summoned him, I'm beginning to think they got the Marianne Williamson thing going on here! :smoke:
I don't understand the 'Marianne Williamson thing' reference. But as for 'summoned' .. I can absolutely assure you that a pentagram and mystical invocations were not involved (nor was a goat sacrificed) ..

No need for the  it wasn't a dig, but a joke. Marianne is one of the Democrat debaters and she's sort of mystical weird. As the reference to your 'summons,' that was in your post on this or another thread, wishing that Blu would show up. A joke, that is all.

Was that a sonic boom I just heard .. ?
Ho hum. You didn't last very long in this debate.
Balu, you argue as though any authority in power, just because it has that power, can do what it likes .. literally whatever that is. 'Might is Right ', eh, regardless of how that power is wielded, to what purpose. It's all 'OK' ... eh, Balu ?

Good to know that your Democrats have differing ways to be weird ! I'd hate for them to be boring.
OK, thanks for your reply.

What a dumb shit, that $80 ticket probably cost her $1000 or more.Let's don't forget the "people are stupid" part. I've seen this crap a lot over the years on different news clips/videos. Some dumbass refusing to sign a ticket.
For the slow (or just to make me feel better because I get besides myself when people are THIS stupid): Signing the ticket is an acknowledgement of receipt of the ticket. NOTHING MORE. Taking a stand against a cop over Administrative procedure is just stupid. You fight the ticket in court, not at the end of a taser. Once he fills it out, it's yours to deal with. There's no taking it back like they used to could before cufflink and bellybutton cams:rolleyes:

And that ticket would likely be voided if she came with a receipt for repair made within like 72 hours. I haven't run into that in AZ, but in IL that is what happens if they don't give you a 'warning to fix.'

Here, if you get a ticket for something that needs fixing you just show up in court with the receipt, as you said. They don't call them "fix it tickets" here. In CA and FL they do.
It's probably the same most places. I'm sure not Seattle though. They can't do shit right there :)

Do you think this is just one random potential Darwin Award recipient, or a symptom of our current unprecedented lack of respect for law enforcement?

Yep, people who are too stupid to realize that signing the ticket merely means "I received the ticket" in fact the ticket even says right on it "signing this ticket is not an admission of guilt" voting is exactly how this country got into the mess we've been in over the last say 20 years.
The truth is in this country we've made it too easy for the terminally stupid to survive. There are ZERO consequences in the United States for being an idiot, in fact it is the reverse, we reward stupidity, and so we're a country full of idiots.
