This is what happens when there are no consequences for these douchenozzles. And yes sometimes that means Republicans too, but MOSTLY its Democrats, their very stupid voters are either too stupid to know when these people are putting politics ahead of doing what is best for the voters, OR they don't care. Either way , the result is the same. The assholes who are in office will not lose their reelection bid no matter what they do, or don't do.

Unless and until we can better educate our voter base to understand that sometimes you just have to say "you're outta here" things won't get any better.

I don't hold out any hope myself. I think we've been living on borrowed time for the last 30 years and Trump was a latch ditch effort to get some sanity and actual caring about the US in DC but was too little too late and that we are doomed as a nation because of stupid people on both sides.

And yes that means both sides. Or does anyone here really believe that Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Mitch McConnell or Steve Scalise are truly the best this country has to offer . Fuck no they aren't, they are all four dimwitted morons who no sane person would put in charge of a child's lemonade stand let alone the Congress of the United States.
