Anguished Winds, Carried Feverish Cries

I rested upon a barren stone slab
When winter's breath had frozen me so stiff
In my dark abode, all was silently drab
Of meadow flowers not even a whiff.
Above the tingle of dawn's waking skies
Within its aura, a whispering death
Anguished winds, carried feverish cries
And sorrows begging no pitiful breath.

Beloved friends I had are dead and gone
All rotting black and deep-six underground
With no beating sun to bleach white their bones
And no ears to hear the wind's tempestuous sound.
Where lies my crypt to hold these sad remains
Or tombstone to mark my last resting place
Was my life more than its dark wicked stains
And truth of her loss my final disgrace.

Why holds this my strongest and pleading thought
Of those treasures of happiness I miss
I regret this trap, its teeth I am caught
Never again have her sweet lips to kiss.
Sun is setting, night sends its waiting song
Its hollow voice sings in fantastic tune
No more can I join racing human throng
Or dance in the summer's ballad of June.

Darkness falls, soul begs another abode
I wish only to leave this airy world
My aches are born from this desperate cold
Pray soon, in Heaven's arms I am hurled.
Treat not this my last message and its note
As if this fool had made no better mark
I tarried not, I got fine candles to tote
In case I end up in the scary dark.

Where Man Walks Blindly And Heart Begs Relief

In the gnashing of teeth rests
a curse hurled at infinity
with its smug cannons of false piety
and impudent airs of erosion.
Where that mystical Chalice of Hope
walks upon its three broken legs
seven poison arrows await delivery
unto Dawn's wide and gaping jaws.
As solemn cries quake the dying tree
untouched fruit, begs the ants
see our value, our sorrows
and tear into us, divinely.
From within hurt's final locket
golden relief asks no more
midnight flights of fancy
or delicious dregs of sad sorrows.
From seas of swarming inequities
fly certainty of rectitude
pipes of anxiety
chasms of cavernous solitude
and spasms of deepest regrets.
Where hides oceans of serenity
touch of soft velvety clouds
fertile soils of sweet charity
warmth of dawn's gasping lights
its new greeting hands?

Free verse, ( Thoughts My Muse Once Forbade Me To Ink )
Note: From this following old poem fragment that I recently found
on the back of one of my longer poems, I sat down and decided to
write a free verse creation from that ancient time in my life and my
memory of my thoughts back then..
("As I walk short plank over hollow seas
Begging my feet to race ever faster
Or else jump as if all falling was free
And no more was Fate my truest master!"

To The God of Poetry, Gift Thy Loving Kiss

To the God of Poetry, I this beg
extend thy helping hand, reclaim my pen
should we fail, falling to break racing legs
from Poet's heart forgive we mortal men.
Cast thy immense shadow upon mind's thought
We poets know, thy love can not be bought!

To the God of Poetry, this I plead
look deeper into our soul-searching hearts
for there hides, rose-red in the ink we bleed
and beautiful melody in verse we impart.
Cast thy immense shadow upon mind's thought
We poets know, thy love can not be bought!

To the God of Poetry, this I ask
should we weaken, in writing lose our way
shine brighter lights, in love's warmth, let us bask
even if our words are weak, let us stay.
Cast thy immense shadow upon mind's thought
We poets know, thy love can not be bought!

To the God of Poetry, this I know
thy power is in thy mercy and love
forgive us each and every low blow
grant us each, angelic muse from above.
Cast thy immense shadow upon mind's thought
We poets know, thy love can not be bought!

To the God of Poetry, this I need
wisdom from thy spirit, its great power
harvested crops of thy beautiful seed
in thy Light live, not in the dark cower.
Cast thy immense shadow upon mind's thought
We poets know, thy love can not be bought!

To the God of Poetry, this I give
devotion, from mind and my busy hands
blessings returned, from joy which I live
heart's sweeter songs, across thy golden lands.
Cast thy immense shadow upon mind's thought
We poets know, thy love can not be bought!

Rhyme, (Replying to Panagiota Romios's-- finely woven and deeply inspiring, poem titled- "To The God Of Poetry")
I composed this piece early this morn, before the sun rose to gift the day its brilliant hues, promised blessings and sweet
hours to love and be loved..

Note: To poets, poetry is far more than just writing- it is the act of joining.
Joining in communicating, sharing, creating, singing, dancing, loving, living
and many other beautiful blessings/emotions. The more communication/sharing the better for us all. The more gifting verse, words for future generations the better for us all..

Inspired by your superbly crafted poem my great friend..

One Of The Deepest Mysteries Of Life

If the wistful wind sighs, and I take my last breath
will my mortal soul weep only at this, my death?
Can man live, our existence ever understand
death is natural, its living we must withstand?

If years eat away at eager heart, soul and mind
can true love and moonlight stroll release such a bind?
Shall warm kisses found under bright glistening stars
banish sad memories, remove deepest of scars?

If sent, will blessings renew hope and faithful thought
on the correctness of Love, the kind never bought?
When whispering winds proclaim Life is too cruel
know this, Love is most magnificent of jewels.

If heart and soul can unite to dear romance seek.
Into vagaries of Life and Fate we may peek.

The Loud Cries, Brightest Depths Of Summer Hues

The loud cries, brightest depths of summer hues!
Gold gleaming on broad fields of flashing grain;
Numerous as if sands upon sea shore
Nature wouldst this beauty never deny
Spring's great new glory in its birthing pains
The loud cries, brightest depths of summer hues!

The meritorious winds, summer's love!
The adventure of red fox hunt and chase;
Passionate and true as lovers implore
Lust for the living and heart's softer steps
Cupid's deep thrusts, arrow's fruits not erase
The meritorious winds, summer's love!

The sweetness of summer songs have now fled!
The angry wasps have forsaken their nests:
Dried hanging as if to be never more
Death wouldst dar'est accursed dark levies take
Living heart from singing in mortal chests
The sweetness of summer songs have now fled!

The loud cries, brightest depths of summer hues!
Gold gleaming on broad fields of flashing grain;
Numerous as if sands upon sea shore
Nature wouldst this beauty never deny
Spring's great new glory in its birthing pains
The loud cries, brightest depths of summer hues!

Now She Begs Me Come, Calling Out My Name

He faced the opening of the dark door
with his solemn thoughts and no last goodbye
He had lived a great life but wanted more
another life, another better try.

Death just stood there with its wicked grinning
Saying, you knew this from the beginning.

Words, damn words, that stung so evil and deep
his brave heart begged him rise up to fight
Crying, come man this is no time to sleep
command death to leave, now you found the light.

Death just stood there with its wicked grinning
Saying, you knew this from the beginning.

He knew in his weeping soul, this was it
no more would dawn's rays wake his sleeping eyes
With that dreadful thought, sorrow truly hit
and he cursed life and dark morbid sky.

Death just stood there with its wicked grinning
Saying, you knew this from the beginning.

Rising, courage summoned, he cried out this
your power can destroy this mortal frame
Yet I have known her love and her sweet kiss
now she begs me come, calling out my name.

Death just stood there with its wicked grinning
Saying, you knew this from the beginning.

Folks this piece was written with a friend of mine in mind, he himself passed away back in the early 90's.
He had told me about her that he lost, and how it affected him. Even how sometimes she visited him at night after she had passed away.
The rest of the poem is poet imagination, creativity and writer's romanticism at play. The dark in this piece is that Death plays no favorites and strikes its victims at any age..
And Death is the true enemy, death and its great ally Time.
I sharpen my sword, hold onto my shield
for sorrow visited me dark of night.
I standeth my ground, and never ever yield
from Southern birth my middle name is fight. -Tyr

To The Heart Of Viking Legends And Thor's Great Oath,
Part One, (In tribute to, the fine poem, "The Old Gods",
by Calvin Dill Wilson)

When the Olden Gods cast mortals aside
such was hopeless and part of divine Fate
Now in far nether realms they sulk and hide
waiting cosmos to universe divide
Odin's rage, Tyr's sad heart do not forgive
blasphemy in which mankind chose to live.

Valhalla requests, Odin, Tyr and Thor
enter our dreams to inspire and to thrive
magnificent glory their inner core
for within mankind, their seed is alive
Disenchanted that their offspring dared to fail
their earth wept, birthing deep new pits of Hell.

Poison leeched into earth's clear flowing streams
darkness dominated once soft-blue seas
Seeing that, in fury they sent sad dreams
tho' many sent their loud, desperate pleas
Yet temptations ruled over many men
as the new Dark Lord, set his evil grin!

From malignant throne, Loki at his side
this world he soon blackened and did so smite
Gave his friend Loki a dragon to ride
ordered up ferocious monsters at night
Odin's Sun kept Dark beasts halfway at bay
radiance of Light, covered man at day.

Alas! The faithful few still living now
hidden in mountains of protective stone
Searching for fresh new fertile fields to plow
amidst evil world with hate overgrown
Those few, gods that desired to hold trust true
went to mountains to give mankind its due.

Vast armory of shields and swords they keep
Brokkr and Eitri, set magic into blades
For immense sorrows this world sends, they weep
swearing never shall their loyalty fade
For even Loki's wrath they do not fear
nor allow his hateful lies bend their ears.

When moon shall for thirteen nights shineth red
Thor sworn by Valhalla oath to return
To avenge warriors, Dark Lord hath bled
restore cities Loki's dragon has burned
Sworn Valhalla's warriors as his kin
Thor, protects the weak and honors brave men!

Hold true this promise and its future tale
by Odin's words his son can not deny
his deeds, courage, which warriors regale
by his might, Mjölnir shall yet again fly!
With Mjölnir, and courage born in his blood
Thor and Tyr's wrath will pour out as a flood!

Shall We Dare To Venture Forth To Consult The Stone

Whimsical wind that bloweth upon a cold stone
knoweth men are lost, ill consoled when left alone
yet upon resplendent dawn's great promise one finds
hope's first waiting of truth, relief of tormented minds
Alas! Now such winds whimper and refuse to reign
adding to epic tragedy and mortal bane!

Yet in the midst of a gentle Spring storm raining
Nature can and does send hope without explaining
its constant bounty nor its most blessed reprieves
from humanity's woes and mortal death that grieves
deeply shattered hearts, the ruin of such tragic souls
or Fate and its mysterious accursed goals!

Shall we dare to venture forth to consult the stone
ask it about death, sense of loss when we are gone
demand answers, it has gathered from wayward winds
or beg more knowledge of what our future portends
Nay! Such folly, we know it would surely dismiss
asking us instead, did princess blush, her first kiss?

Whimsical wind that bloweth upon a cold stone
knoweth men are lost, ill consoled when left alone
yet upon resplendent dawn's great promise can find
hope's first waiting of truth, relief of tormented mind
Alas! Now such winds whimper and refuse to reign
adding to epic tragedy and mortal bane!

After reading a couple dozen of my older poems written in the mid 70's, I sat down and composed this poem today.
I hope that you may enjoy reading it and knowing that life is so very much deeper than we mortals ever realize.
And it usually holds so very much more promise than we ever allow our hearts to ever seek.
Fortunate is the person that finds that out before going through that last dark door, IMHO..---Tyr

As Silence Reigns

The sun burns its dark crystals in my mind
the maple tree oozes its sticky flesh,
as the silence reigns
Begging sky cries from sun and its scorching flames
as blinded ground wakes to scampering winds,
their voices roaring into eternity
as the silence reigns
The flower meadows reach for gasping tones,
demanding Nature plunge about its glories
and in their frenzy, miss dancing clouds above
as the silence reigns
The life that invades this body mine,
seeks control over sad singing heart
to smother love's bounty and allow Time to eat eternity,
as the silence reigns

Free verse, ( A darkened look into Earth, Life and Eternity )

a poem fragment, comes and stops

I that stomp ripe grapes with my feet
grasp at shadows from falling leaf,
yet fearful of darkness I meet
ever mindful of souls in grief.
Make wine from grapes plucked by hand
pray aloud, as barefoot I stand.

A fragment that sets its own sails
over waters shimmering deep
stray-shot arrows, that heart impales
within darken dreams life tells
O' pain let mercy see thy face
as sorrows replay youth's disgrace.

True Blue Fisherman He Longed To Be

Once a seeking lad of long dreamt desires
true blue fisherman he longed to be
within summer's heat, its burning hot fires
went he through desert to welcoming sea
Only to find that it had no hungry fish
nor even lobster, his favorite dish!

Trekked he on back, to his small hometown lake
with rod and reel in his young trusty hands
swore, I am a fisherman, not a fake
no more of fishing failures can I stand
With that he baited his first shiny hook
saying, fish live here not in a damn book!

Casting away, far out into yon deep
over to were the big catfish oft hid
Swore he, I will eat fish before I sleep
fried in cast iron pan with no lid
With that spat out, he felt some long hard jerks
delighted that his fresh earthworm bait works!

Reeling in his long line to beat the band
hoping for grand daddy catfish to eat
now firm gripping rod with both of his hands
with a hard yank, a boot lands at his feet
Aghast, at this failure and its great shock
from old boot fell out only torn red sock!

Spouting curses that would make sailors blush
re-baited, out farther he cast his line
praying for fish, then that long silent hush
huge fish was landed, life seemed so fine
Swelled with pride, as this was a full meal
cried, fisherman am I, the real deal!

Undisturbed as new green grass they eat.

A Poetic Trilogy On Life's Dark Blows

(I.)
Saddest Man, Behind The Saddest Mask

Saddest man, behind the saddest mask
hides his sorrows, so please do not ask
if love has destroyed his beating heart
if sorrows overwhelmed from the start!

A child he saw the world, its great dark
that black curse, made its malignant mark
even child toys had crying faces
their pains shown, left cancerous traces!

To heal, finding Love 's blessings his task!

If Accursed World Would Stop Spinning

If accursed world would stop spinning
devious lies, its horrors winning
betrayals, with daggers slicing hearts
jealousies and all that hate imparts!

If night, its dark would never arrive
and dawn's eager promised blessings thrive
would not Life then its candles bright light
vanquishing terrors in evil's nights!

Love's win, starts paradise's beginning!

Does Beauty Exist In Gleaming Frost

Realizing Life's journey has cost
epic agonies may get one lost
should its aching pains one just deny
or wash away with tears one must cry?

Each new morn, may dark blows deliver
cold chills that make soul-deep shivers
in agony, must one then admit
that life sucks, with Fate's grievous, hard hits?

Does beauty exist in gleaming frost?

Echoes, Echoing In Cold Silent Hush

The Gods we adore in our youthful youth
are shadows we see before coming truth.
In youth, our eyes are but dark jaded spheres
that deny and guard against our true fears!

From imagined hopes and great treasured dreams
we see far more than gold in moonlit beams.
As golden mirrors upon waters cast,
so are sorrowful regrets born to last!

Winding trails, we traverse on darken paths
are found bitterest black seeds, grapes of wrath.
To be planted in dead and barren grounds
as innocent cries, birth horrific sounds!

The Gods that, our golden dreams dare to crush
are but echoes, in that cold silent hush!

Oft Woe Is Sorrows, Of Mere Mortal Men

Of fine artist brush and true poet's pen
oft woe is sorrows, of mere mortal men.
Tho' great the powers, sun's glow in blue skies
majestic the beauty, in dawns bright rise.

What purpose poetry, if not to give?
What purpose existence, if not to live?

What verse can such magnificence reveal
more so than inked truth that searching poets feel.
From revelations of heart's deep desires
to blazing flames of romantic fires.

What purpose poetry, if not to give?
What purpose existence, if not to live?

Dare we beg our muse, cast unto us more
of immense depths from which others did score.
Gift hearts, souls and minds creativity
or beauty even in versed brevity?

What purpose poetry, if not to give?
What purpose existence, if not to live?

What of importance of the sad and black
do we ignore from courage we may lack.
Nay! Ours is to set truth on its gold throne
tho, on that journey we may trek alone.

What purpose poetry, if not to give?
What purpose existence, if not to live?

When begging paper, cries for new black ink
of course from both heart and mind we must think.
And with purpose write to all, as a gift
Life, Love, Inspiration that so uplifts.

What purpose poetry, if not to give?
What purpose existence, if not to live?

Under Nature's blue skies that beg our praise
dare we give verse light, to cut world's dark haze.
Endeavor to create what time will note
with blessings, take great pride in what we wrote?

What purpose poetry, if not to give?
What purpose existence, if not to live?

Fervent Prayer Once Uttered Unto Youth's Beauty

I that would, in your splendor bask
wear no longer youth's sweet, young mask
rather wrinkled face, weathered brow
with long decades flown on by now
yet glory rests in elder years
and love's truth devoid of life fears.

Mark well, honor given to you
no less and no more than your due
praise thus uttered not in great haste
nor vanities as others waste
hold this, in your sweet dreams afire
treasured kiss of deepest desire.

And from, heart and soul's strongest vow
words said, unto your graceful bow
beckoning of loving embrace
and salvation by saving grace
hear this, light begets truth's powers
youthful time loss, its saddest hours.

Beauty, innocence and child's dream
travel forth in splendorous streams
rushing past rocks that must give way
as sun beams forth, break of new day
In this divine gift, rests true love
glaring proof of heaven above.

As Soft Winds Did Red Colors Blow To Sway

Through welcoming rose garden feet did tread
aromatic the scent of dawn's new day
but for joy, this lonesome heart had left bed
with high hopes that our love we not betray
and in heavenly love we'd pray to wed.

Within our blessings, hope its dear truth rode
as if a songbird, set to sing anew
yet this dark world oft has wicked lies told
that may turn truest love to sad and blue
in that misery, dark horse may be rode!

Searching for beauty to allay great fears
as glowing flowers beseech searching heart
morn's glistening dew falling as soft tears
to wash away sadness, our time apart
heal wounds as opened by such poison spears!

As soft winds did red colors blow to sway
sun's sweet golden rays soon began to speak
hold thy romance true, yield not to dismay
listen not to doubts, allow love thy seek
to assure, future which heart firmly prays.

Through welcoming rose garden feet did tread
aromatic the scent of dawn's new day
but for joy, this lonesome heart had left bed
with high hopes that our love we not betray

Ashes Now Cover, Pantheon Of Ancient Greek Gods

Deep within halls of ancient, and dead Greek gods
resides heroes forgotten, waiting their just dues
As poets of old, in golden verse gave their nods
pleas for recognition now so sadly accrues.

Does this world wrongly deny heroes of the past
In rush to glorify vanity it now casts?

Have we cause in forgetting heroes that once trod
across time and those famous battlefields of old
Anointed with courage, muscles hard as iron rod
warriors lost in greater tales no longer told.

Does this world wrongly deny heroes of the past
In rush to glorify vanity it now casts?

Of Achilles, that Homer so famously wrote
how many students now even know of his name
As we parade about singers of little note
with falsely set illusion, their voice deserves fame.

Does this world wrongly deny heroes of the past
In rush to glorify vanity it now casts?
