We moved from California to Arkansas in 1981 and my dad gave up a lot of money to do so, He was making six figures back then in California and when we moved to Arkansas he took a job making $5 an hour. Best decision my parents ever made.

I still have family out there , and yeah they make good money, but damn. I have a cousin who has had 2 cars stolen right out of his garage, his wife has been mugged in her own front yard, and the kids aren't allowed outside without adult supervision. They come back here and we don't even take the keys out of our vehicles half the time, and the kids are like "what , we can play outside without being afraid of a drive by?"

And that's not even counting all the taxes and other issues CA has going on right now , I personally wouldn't move back there for an 8 figure income.
