I solved this issue by simply never using the toilet in the master bathroom. And none of the kids are allowed to either. Half the time when us boys gotta pee we just walk out to the back yard.

Between the house and garages and the pool house and barns we have more bathrooms than people, there's no reason fight with my wife over something as trivial as forgetting to put the toilet seat down.

And she would never dream of letting the bathroom counter look like that lol
