I actually knew that because I know all kinds of useless trivia crap like that
Probably got it from the History Channel back in the day when it showed history.

Gosh....that is an awful statistic, but my engineers on the small boats and cutter
were top-notch and dedicated.
I am not really surprised they stayed to the last.:salute:

Bilgerat, did you ever on your cutters have to do a 'Duty Section Only' emergency
departure from the pier - where only the watch members did it?
We did it once on the Venturous. Two of my 3 deckies were at helm and lookout. Duty engineers were in the pit.
JOOD had the Nav and comms watch, OOD had the deck and conn.
Me and the lone deckie had to slip all mooring lines and man the focs'l, where we were to dip the anchor to get underway.
The cutter was fully manned. CO called "Silence' and stopped us from dipping the anchor.
It was hectic!

Moored in Cape Cod Canal during the winter on the Bittersweet, Ice came during a tide, OOD was the Chief Bosn, I was the EWO.
Emergence lite off and away from the pier :saluting2:

That is not a 'fun' evolution! Emergency lite off, and not get the mains to warm is a real risk.
Our biggest threat was a tsunami wave, where we would have to strike the brow, get underway
and go offshore to a minimum of 600 feet of water and ride it out.
