This is pathetically funny.
From the Bend, Oregon paper, The Bulletin:
https://www.bendbulletin.com/nation/7094301-151/electric-utilities-still-at-war-with-public-enemy
When I was at USCG Station Fort Totten NY in 1980, all of the street lights went out one night. The light standards were
erected in 1865 as gas lanterns then later converted to electric. But they kept the same glass panels over the lights.
Very pretty looking.
Anyway, the duty engineer and I investigated and found a squirrel had gotten into one light, chewed the wires
and was immediately zapped. Roast Squirrel! We had the electric company come fix that damage and test the circuit
before turning the lights back on.
