President Trump Signs ‘Big Freeze’ Executive Order, Sends Strong Message To Dems For 2019
President Donald Trump signed a “big freeze” executive order over the weekend and it will hit Democrats where it hurts for 2019.
The federal government has been partially shutdown for just over a week, and Trump and Democrats are locked over the issue of border security.
House Republicans voted 217-185 to approve a measure that would keep the government open and allocate $5.7 billion for border wall funding.
The bill is now waiting a full vote in the Senate, where lawmakers are hashing it out over funding for border security.
Trump originally wanted $5 billion for border wall funding and Democrats only offered $1.6 billion, which they claimed was a “very generous” offer.
Democrats have made it clear that they have no intention of working with Trump, so he’s taking away one of their favorite things – wasting taxpayer money.
Trump froze federal workers’ pay for 2019, but not for U.S. troops, who recently got a large pay increase from the president.
As many have argued, Trump is trying to send a message to those in the government who do not support his agenda and are refusing to work with him.
If the government is not willing to cooperate and help the president secure the border, he’s essentially going to freeze their pay until something gets done.
Again, the executive order does not affect the pay raise for U.S troops, which will still go into effect in 2019.

While Trump didn’t leave Washington, D.C, for Christmas and has been working to reopen the government, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is on vacation.
Pelosi was spotted on Thursday vacationing at a five-star resort in Hawaii.
