According to the dictionary, a refugee is a person who flees to a foreign land to escape persecution from a government.

According to the Gospels, the holy family fled Judea, a Roman Province at the the time, to Egypt, another Roman province. So, they were not refugees. They never left the Roman Empire, they never were refugees.

The holy family was fleeing to escape assassination of the Lord by King Herod.

This is just another example of the Left twisting facts to achieve its political ends or, in the case of Ms Cortez, demonstrating the depth of her ignorance about history and the Bible.

But that’s not the point, they are attempting to draw a parallel between the Holy family and the hordes of illegal immigrants that are coming to this country.

And that brings up an historical fact. The Western Roman Empire fell because of uncontrolled immigration across its borders.

Ms Cortez, please do us a favor. The next time you want to tweet something, resist the urge and spare yourself from making yourself look like the fool that you are and annoying the rest if us.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is beginning her congressional career with a rebellion against incoming Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Ocasio-Cortez announced on Wednesday she was voting 'no' on the House rules package Democrats' will present when they take power on Thursday.

The rules package is one of the first votes the House will take under Pelosi's reign. It would be highly irregular and quite dramatic if it's voted down given the majority in power makes the rules of the House and members vote for it as a matter of form.

Eighteen Democrats would need to vote against the package on Thursday to sink it - a move that would be seen as a significant set back to Pelosi's tenure as speaker.
