God, I remember those days. We bought airplane and THEN hubby took lessons. I was terrified most of the time. One time he switched gas tanks but didn't get toggle all the way over. Had just enough gas to get off ground and about 10 miles out when engine died.

That guy was a complete moron and sounds like a kid.

I still have an airport green book and know how to read an aviation sectional chart.

The green book will show magnetic compass directions, glide paths, and a diagram on larger airports.
The sectional will show waypoints and routes based on magnetic compass.
