It's 84 and humid as hell here today and I'm bitching and moaning. A few weeks back or so, it was in the 90's and hot as hell, and I just looked out the window and smiled knowing I also had a nice generator just in case.

But 120? gadang!! That is DEFINITELY stay indoors at all costs type of temps!!

US Southwest sizzles as temperatures near 120 degrees

PHOENIX (AP) — Temperatures approached 120 degrees in parts of the U.S. Southwest on Monday, and forecasters said this week could bring the region's hottest weather of the year.

Phoenix reached a sweltering 115 degrees (46 Celsius), which broke the previous daily record, according to the National Weather Service.

"I'm hoping to stay in the air conditioning all day, and I'm planning to take it easy," said Lisa Kirby, who was visiting from Rhode Island for a conference.

Firefighters and city officials Monday morning distributed bright red cloth visors, hand fans and blue-colored cooling neckerchiefs to downtown Phoenix commuters, advising them to stay inside as much as possible.

A heat advisory was in effect for west Texas and southeast New Mexico into Monday evening, with high temperatures well into the triple digits, the service said. Afternoon school bus service was canceled Monday in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where the mercury climbed to 105 degrees (41 Celsius).

With excessive heat in Phoenix, APS may see record-breaking energy usage

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -
Tuesday may be the hottest day of the year in Phoenix with a forecasted high of 118 degrees and that means some energy records at Arizona Public Service may be broken.

In June 2017, APS broke multiple long-held energy records due to the extreme heat and that may be the case once again for the hottest day of 2018 on July 24.

From Monday, July 23 to Wednesday, July 25, Phoenix will be under an Excessive Heat Warning. During this time, residents are recommended to stay indoors.

With the temperatures rising and ACs on, APS expects record numbers for energy usage.

That is why they are making sure they have enough resources to keep the lights on and ACs running.

APS said they are constantly making sure they have enough power during the right times of day.

I know. Melting is right. 'Cool down on Saturday, so far they are saying 111.' Sigh.

Good news is, the schools are down right cold!

I usually keep the AC at 84 during the day and 86 at night. Two days ago put it down to 80 and there it has stayed. 3:15 this morning and the outside temp is at 91!

I need a sweater at school, they must have it down to 78 or cooler.
