A Connecticut man who was assaulted by three juveniles while at work has been sentenced to prison for stabbing one of the attackers.
The Connecticut Post reports (https://www.ctpost.com/policereports/article/Victim-of-Norwalk-assault-gets-18-months-for-not-13044078.php) 21-year-old Jeffrey Sumpter of Bridgeport received 18 months in jail Monday at a Stamford courthouse.
The paper reported that Sumpter — who was convicted of felony first-degree assault — also will have to spend three years following his release on probation. If he breaks the law during that time, Sumpter could be made to serve all or part of a 42-month prison sentence.
Sumpter was working at a Dunkin’ Donuts in Norwalk last October when he was jumped by three males. During the assault, Sumpter stabbed one of them in the leg.

The idiot judge knows he doesn't have to follow the letter of the law - he's the judge.

The "duty to flee" law sounds like it was created by a bunch of ivory tower sleazebags that have never had to face a fight-or-flee situation in their lives. Talking about it is way different than facing it.

It says the law doesn't allow you to use deadly force if you can flee, but I would think that stabbing someone in the leg is not actually deadly force. The guy lived, didn't he?

I agree. First thing I thought of when I read this. 2nd thought was he needs to move to a different state when he gets out.

Also, who is trying to remember the latest idiotic law on the books when they are being attacked? It's the fight or flight instinct. It's a visceral thing ... I am a fight, not flight person.
