I think it's true that people can love their pets more than they love most other people.

They are family, even a little bird.

We had a Canary one time that we all just adored. She was the happiest little thing that sang like crazy. One time we went on vacation and gave her to the neighbors to bird sit and they put her on top of their TV, the old kind of TV, and it got hot while the TV was on and got cold when they shut it off for the night, and she got sick and died. We were all heart broken. Size or kind of pet doesn't matter. Dumbass sons a bitches.
