Winter storm may become 3rd nor'easter to target Northeast

A storm system moving across parts of the South is expected to intensify on Monday and become a nor'easter, bringing heavy snow and high winds for a third time in less than two weeks to a region still cleaning up from two previous storms.
The National Weather Service's Weather Prediction Center said while there is still some uncertainty about the track (http://origin.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/discussions/hpcdiscussions.php?disc=pmdspd), an area from the mid-Atlantic to New England could be affected by the storm.
"The best prospects for accumulating snow will be for the southern and central Appalachians and interior portions of New England," the agency said. "If the nor'easter tracks closer to the coast, then high winds and coastal flooding will be an issue."
Winter Storm Watches have been issued from Connecticut up through to Maine for the possibility of 4 to 8 inches of snow from Monday evening through Tuesday afternoon in the Boston area, and 6 to 12 inches in Maine.

We're always ready for this kind of stuff. I personally would rather have Snow, than endless Spring Tornado's that cause all kinds of Terrible Hate & Discontent....that often takes too many lives.
We can shovel snow, and when it melts...we still have our homes.

Wouldn't wish any of that on anyone....but NorEaster's have been happening for hundreds of years. People who choose to live at the beach, or along the coast for HIGH TIDES, and STORM SURGES....never learn. But the Insurance Companies HATE IT.

No, no! We already had 26 hrs. with no power and another day without Comcast or wifi.

Okay, we have a wood stove and plenty wood and a generator for most of the house and I had a great time cooking in and on the wood stove in the living room.

But now we have four lambs and the onions came from Gurney's so it's time to stop all this winter stuff.

Our two biggest threats here are catching a hurricane aimed in the perfect direction (remote) and drought. Heat is our biggest killer. If the power grid in the SW ever got hit and all the transplanted yankees lost AC, you'd need a good supply of body bags.

I didn't mind snow as long as the cable doesn't go out :laugh:

The cable was out a day longer than the power was out. And yeah, that was the bigger problem. This business of having all three connections with the outside world being delivered by one (surprisingly delicate) supplier -- phone, computers, TV? I'm beginning to think that may not have been such a great idea.

And a cable line is STILL down across the orchard. We've called twice, they set up an appt., nobody comes. We're giving them slack till the storms stop. Then I'll get on the phone and have a conniption fit.
