Several high profile Democrats are slamming Nancy Pelosi for her stance on the new tax law.
At least six Democrat lawmakers say Pelosi’s comments, in which she called the tax cut employee bonuses crumbs, are out of touch.
Congressman Emmanuel Cleaver said language is important, and it’s important not to insult people.
Representative Joe Crowley said the amount of money people are receiving is significant, and he wouldn’t want to diminish it.
Congressman John Yarmuth said a couple of thousand dollars per year is not crumbs.
This comes as Republicans hold a majority in both the House and Senate, and some on the left have voiced concern over the party’s lack of strong leadership.
