House Set To Vote On Short-Term Funding Bill To Avoid Gov’t Shutdown

UPDATED 6:32 AM PT — Tues. February 6, 2018While the impasse over DACA negotiations are still ongoing in both chambers of Congress, all are in agreement that the drama of last month’s shutdown should be avoided.
The House will vote on a yet another temporary spending bill Tuesday, which would keep the government open until Thursday, March 22 and the military funded through the end of the fiscal year.
In the meantime, a bipartisan team tasked with creating a compromised DACA bill has said it’s unlikely a deal will be reached by the deadline.
The reason being that President Trump wont accept any deal protecting so-called ‘Dreamers’ without funding for a southern border wall.
Regardless, Senate Republicans have promised the government will stay open even without a DACA deal as chances to reach an agreement on the controversial program continue to slip away.
Senators John McCain and Christopher Coons have introduced their own immigration bill, but it does not include funding for a southern border wall
However, this is something many Republicans, including the president, are demanding.

They just want to agree on a reasonable amount, met with a large amount of $ as a down payment on the wall as well as some sort of "mortgage", if you will, towards guaranteed future funding of the wall. What's left is the reasonable amount & the funding - on a plan that is agreed upon and accepted.

Which I consider chickenshit stalling and dodging a bullet by the Dems.

The military is paid from FY to FY. An extension to the end of the FY will put hard funding back an entire year. They're stalling hoping they are going to take Congress in the mid-terms. Everything they do is about THAT.
