That said ... I can see a time when so-called 'liberal' thinking will be so swamped by its vicious 'alternative', that the concept of liberal will be seen in its far nastier incarnation. Don't underestimate the erosive effect that propagandist posturing can have over an extended time.

Over here, our Labour Party was once definable in the Tony Blair, 'softer, less extreme' terms ... his version of applied Socialism had some significant differences to the more hardline, extreme versions seen in that Party decades earlier. Now ... this version has gone to the wall, discredited in most Socialists' eyes because Blair himself is seen as a discredited figure (his push to support Bush in the Iraq War did him a great deal of damage).

My point is that 'proper' Socialism was once seen in Blairite terms, but now, a far harder-line version of it, under Corbyn, holds sway in peoples' minds.
