I was a relief keeper on Goat Island Light for a bit during the time of Bush 41.

It was semi-isolated, you had to take the peapod into town to buy whatever you needed, but it was doable.

This however, is ridiculous. Perched on a rock pillar in the Westman Islands of Iceland, the Prídrangaviti Lighthouse is arguably the most isolated lighthouse in the world.

That's what comes to mind when I see one. But that one in Iceland is amazing. Guess the C.G. would call that UNACCOMPANIED tour??????:laugh::laugh:

ISOLATED does not even begin to describe that!

There does not look to be room for more than one keeper at a time in that thing unless they burrowed into the rock.

That looks to be the only way. I cannot see an easy boat approach.

That is one small helipad.

Is there even a helicopter made, that can land on that without the rotor blades hitting the house or the rocky outcropping next to it?

Or do they just hover 50 ft. over it and winch stuff (and people) up and down?

Wonder what the wind currents are like. I wouldn't want to fly anywhere near it, even if I wasn't landing.

When St. George Reef Light (7 Miles offshore) was built the vessels involved in the construction
had to anchor off the rock and use a trolly system to pass supplies. Only on a FAC sea (Flat Ass Calm)
could the stone barges get close enough to transfer materials.
