UPDATED 7:50 AM PT — January 22, 2018"U.S. officials say young immigrants who illegally cross over into the country are being relocated to their destination of choice by commercial flights paid for by taxpayers.
Officials with the Department of Homeland Security told Judicial Watch last week that young migrants who cross the U.S.-Mexico border are given taxpayer-funded escorts to their desired location.
Sources claim migrants wear red Health and Human Services wristbands, and receive priority seating ahead of all other passengers, including law enforcement personnel.
The comments from DHS officials come the same week the department’s secretary laid out her demands for stricter border control.
“The president in his executive order indicated 10,000 ICE agents, 8,000 Border Patrol, another 1,000 about lawyers and immigration judges to process… we need to look at hiring and we’re looking at that at DHS — how can we more quickly hire and retain and what additional authorities do we need if any?” commented Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen.
The report comes as detention centers continue to fill along the southern border.
A Homeland Security agent with direct knowledge of the secret operation told Judicial Watch the practice is both shameful and dangerous."
