I Dreamed That I Wrote You Over A Thousand Poems
I dreamed that I wrote you over a thousand poems
a few even made you gift a few crooked smiles
There were those long distance phone calls
ones I knew, made you thank the separate miles!
No baby, I am not going to take you back-- this time!
nor feed your shiny black cat and its ravenous mouth
Yes, I miss you too, but you cut me with each breath
masquerading up North while I revolt here down South!
I dreamed yes dreamed, you once had a love great and true
one that brought blue skies and angels that gave praise
That was before you darkened my soul and slashed this heart
before I found myself bleeding and naked in your maze!
I dreamed that I wrote you over a thousand poems
ones I knew, made you thank the separate miles!
Then I woke, alone and saw sunny blue skies gleam
and I too, finally thanked the many separate miles!

New Note. Many a man has been blessed by both time and DISTANCE.
Some angels turn out to be she-devils hellbent on destroying that which
they capture...Some young fools are lucky to have escaped..

A Short Afternoon Tea With Death And The Devil
Noonday tea with Death, the Devil was at his side
words never on the level, lies of sin and pride
Death spoke first, while Devil sat with that evil smile
saying, come boy lets us chat for a little while.
With my strongest guard up, I replied, so we shall
but know this first, you will not ever be my pal
Death laughing out loud said this, boy your time will come
I am powerful, mortals are shallow and dumb
You walk your paths, with lusts and pure greed in your eyes
while my father the Devil, feeds you sweetest lies
As mortal hearts and souls turn black we laugh out loud
billions we have destroyed, we are rightly so proud
So boy, come hither let us now truly embrace
journeying with me will be joy, not a disgrace!
Next Devil spoke and gave me that long wicked grin
men are easy, I offer just a little sin
Now boy, shake my hand and let us be firmest friends
I'll reward you as well as your future portends
You'll feast in paradise, gold will be your best friend
we will do it all, breaking what will not just bend
Swear oath to me and have all you ever desire
man's life is short, for very soon you will expire
Walk in my shadow, embracing its darkest glows
I'll line you up soft beauties in hundreds of rows
Your life will be fulfilled, wealth coming with such ease
all you have to do, is any damn thing you please
Allow me one long kiss and you can have it all
do so now and you can stride down my palace halls!
O' what dark bounty and promise was offered me
fearful my spirit and heart both cried out to flee
Strangely my feet refused to race out and away
for courage came and showed me clever game to play
Seeing Death and Devil both were such bosom friends
I wanted to see which one breaks and which one bends
I asked Devil, if for my soul he'd Death deny
finding his task pleasurable, not tell him why
Eager for my soul, he replied with a quick yes
at that, Death's reaction was not even a guess
In blink of an eye they began to fiercely fight
O' what a fine and glorious ravishing sight
Neither could gain the upper hand and both had failed
I walked away laughing, O' my how they wailed!

Back When Shadow, Death And Fate Had Their Little Talk
And of what tragic and early grave do you dare to speak
I am young and strong certainly not so old and weak?
The Shadow but smiled and said," but you'll soon be dead
being mortal, by my master Death that you all so dread"!
I am but the long Shadow of Death and your demise
you are a mere mortal, quite foolish and so unwise!
Astounded I replied, "Be off, you can not thus scare me"
I am young and strong, just as brave as brave can be!
Who the hell gave you authority to plague me so
now be off and away your dark arrogant ass go?
Shadow came in closer, laughing and dancing all about
I tell you when to go and shall come to take you out!
Now with buckets of youthful anger and vigor to such match
I threw an old shoe and commanded- "Shadow-boy, you go catch"
That seething insult brought promised curses galore
Shadow's epic rage gladden my soul and I laughed even more.
Then HE came from a dark corner, said, I hear you laugh at me
Shadow be gone, let me tell this upstart how his end will be!
Death himself spoke, " You are young and a fool mistakenly brave
when I come for you, not a damn thing can your worthless life save."
I laughed and said, "Ah, but Fate has you wrapped and tied
that is unless Fate's supreme authority you have just denied."
Death stammered, "Now, now young lad, I made no such claim
your wise and clever game will not on me lay such blame"!
But Fate had been listening all this long and deary time
Spoke saying to Death, "Be gone for he lives now on my dime"
Death grimacing took a low bow and said, "I'll be off now"!
I joined Fate and said, "yes you be off" and I did so with a scowl".
As Death whirled around, leaving us in one mighty roaring swish
he shot back," Ï'll get you lad and serve you up on a golden dish"!
Fate spoke, " You are young and seek to play a foolish game
but know this, I have great power, and Death and I are not the same"
Even mighty Death bows low to me until your time falls around
and is I that holds power until you sleep deep six in the ground.
I bowed low and said, "You I will tempt so often and O' so well
no worries unless you bow to Death and send me on early to Hell!
Fate spoke angrily and said, " Young lad, do not so try to riddle me
for my power can quite easily break and imprison thee."
Now brave young lad, "Be off with you, as I've had my say
I shall embrace thee, do as I please, each and everyday"
I smiled and said, " Wisdom dictates- No man can deny his Fate"
If you are trying to scare me, reality makes even you too late!
Fate smiled and said, "You intrigue me and we both shall now see
who has the greater power, you or the known invincible me"
I laughed and said, "Ha, even you must bow to Father Time
against he that I have yet to ever commit a serious crime".
Fate bellowed, "Now I know why Death left in such a flurry
may Father Time end you young lad and do so in a damn hurry"!

Note-- Recently edited/revised from an original 1974 poem I wrote after narrowing escaping death involving having a crazed
and insanely upset guy point a rifle at me from ten feet away and threaten to shoot me...
And his eyes told me that he truly meant it! -Tyr
