"I'm a stingray and I approve this behavior. We won't attack first, what happened with Steve was a big misunderstanding. The young human by the name of Joel is a great friend of one of our own.
We're having Joel and his family over for dinner later this week. Hopefully things will turn out OK. While I am here, I will respond to any questions our fellow Earthlings will direct into our attention.
I speak for the S.R.U. when I say this. The Sting-Ray Union is a peaceful directive and we've been thinking about how to get bonded with humans over the past few thousand of years."

I automatically think of Steve Irwin with those things... we catch them up here when fishing for Halibut out in the ocean.

Some of them are so cute and friendly, then you have others that shoot out the spike whenever a human is within distance. I don't know if it's different species types, or if some of them are just 'learned behavior' of being with humans?

~ "If you’re unsure about your stance on stingrays, we don’t blame you. They’re often portrayed as deadly, cold-blooded creatures who wield their venomous tails like a murder weapon. They're also oddly adorable (http://ak-hdl.buzzfed.com/static/enhanced/web05/2012/9/28/18/enhanced-buzz-23099-1348870022-7.jpg). The best way to form an opinion is by learning a little more about the mysterious stingray. Here are 10 facts about these saucer-like creatures of the deep." ~

My stepdaughter and I saw a stingray while snorkeling in the Cayman Islands last fall. I got video on the GoPro. I will have to locate the clip and link to it. Pretty cool to see.
