At least 27 dead and more than two dozen injured in Texas church shooting
At least 27 people were killed and around 27 injured in a Texas church shooting Sunday morning, law enforcement sources told ABC News.
The alleged shooter is dead, and it appears there is no longer an active threat at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, about 40 miles southeast of San Antonio, police told ABC News.

We all started running
A person who said she works at a gas station across the street from the church told ABC News she heard rapid gunfire at around 11:15 a.m., leading congregants from the church as well as customers at the station to run inside for cover.
“We heard several shots and we all started running inside the store,” she said.
“It lasted about 15 seconds. I yelled, ‘Get down! Get inside!’ and we all went into hiding,” said the woman, who said she is 49 but declined to give her name.
She said the gas station locked its doors. "We have not reopened,” she said.
She then that within minutes of the gunfire, emergency personnel had arrived at the scene.
“There were officers that were checking the wounded in here were asking them questions,” she said.
The FBI and ATF were at the scene by Sunday afternoon, and at least six people from the church were taken to Connally Memorial Center in nearby Floresville for treatment.

14-year-old girl was among the victims, father says
One victim of the shooting is a 14-year-old girl, according to her father, Frank Pomeroy, who is pastor at the church.
Pomeroy spoke by phone to ABC News' Mike DelMoro.
Annabelle “was one very beautiful special child,” her father said.
Pomeroy said he was in Oklahoma on Sunday morning, a rare weekend that he wasn't at the church. He was driving back when he spoke to ABC News.
All of those who died are close friends of his, Pomeroyhe said.
Gathered at the scene, waiting for news
Police formed a perimeter around the white clapboard church and flooded its grounds with emergency and police vehicles, according to KSAT.

A small group of people were seen clustered together outside the church, an unassuming building with a red door. They were holding hands as tears overtook an attempt to pray, a KSAT reporter said.

Trump tweeted on the shooting from Japan where he is visiting on his Asia tour.
May God be w/ the people of Sutherland Springs, Texas. The FBI & law enforcement are on the scene. I am monitoring the situation from Japan.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 5, 2017
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said in a statement, "The thoughts and prayers of all Texans are with the people of Sutherland Springs as tragic reports come out of First Baptist Church."
"Please join Angela and me as we pray for those impacted by this horrific shooting,” Paxton said.
ABC News' Joi-Marie McKenzie contributed to this report.

I hope there's a special place in Hell for the shooter. I'd say odds are good it was a local crime. One doesn't just pick "Sutherland Springs" as a place to do anything. It's a two-by-twice, country town. The coward probably knew the one place good old boys don't carry their guns is the House of the Lord. Scumbag.
Now I gotta go see if my daughter or I know any of these people ... :(

Okay, this won't make sense until someone fills in the blanks. The shooter is identified as David Patrick Kelley of New Braunfels. His Mother-in-law has a PO Box in Sutherland Springs. No other link to the place has been cited yet.
He was a zoomie who taught Sunday School after his hitch in the USAF was up. He's white. The entire town of Sutherland Springs is 96% white, some Asians, and "0" is listed for blacks and hispanics. Total population is around 700.
I see why it's so small. A house will cost you $300K and up. The housing market in SA is half that.

Young 20's, was wearing full black tactical gear, ballistic vest, not known if died from self inflicted wound or shot by someone else.

More proof that the U.S. Mental Health Awareness is hurting as badly as the Heroin Epidemic. Liberal Dems are again demanding more Gun Control, when they should be demanding the elimination of their PHARMA buddies who provide Dems with the campaign support they need to remain Career Politicians who rip off Americans.

The fact is, gun control CREATES scenarios like this. "I know the church-going, law-abiding citizens aren't going heeled to church".
Many of the larger churches in Texas have armed security. A little wooden church house on the creek in the country isn't going to.

He was court martialed and dishonorably discharged from the USAF, so he was illegally in possession of firearms. No new gun control law would have prevented this.

Law enforcement officials identified the gunman on Sunday evening as Devin Patrick Kelley, age 26, of neighboring Comal County. Officials were preparing to search his home.
There was no immediate information on the reason behind the shooting, according to Sheriff Tackett. Federal officials said while the gunman's motivation was unclear, there were no obvious signs of a connection to terrorism.
The shooter, dressed in all black and wearing tactical gear and a ballistic vest, first began firing outside the church before he continued his shooting spree inside, said Freeman Martin, a regional director with the Texas Department of Public Safety. He was armed with a "Ruger AR assault-type rifle," he said.
A local citizen confronted the gunman, "grabbed his rifle and engaged that suspect," he said.
"We know the ages range from 5 years old to 72 years of age," Martin said.
The gunman dropped the rifle and then fled the scene with the local citizen in pursuit, he said.
The suspect was later found dead in his vehicle by law enforcement, Martin said.
"We don't know if this was a self-inflicted gunshot wound or if he was shot by our local resident who engaged him with gunfire," he added.

Thankfully we have a constitution supporting president now that gets it...
Trump says Texas church shooting caused by 'mental health problem' not guns
When asked whether U.S. gun control measures could have been the key to the Texas shooting, Trump replied, "Mental health is your problem here"
Trump — who has received political support from the National Rifle Association — has consistently been against implementing more rigorous domestic gun control laws
"Fortunately … somebody else had a gun that was shooting in the opposite direction," Trump said at the press conference

This is from the local yokels ....
They are not positive, but are leaning toward a domestic dispute. The mother-in-law who attended the church apparently showed the cops some threatening texts. Which makes it all the damn dumber. He murdered all those people and didn't get the mom-in-law.
They confirmed his discharge was dishonorable from the USAF for beating an ex-wife and kid. He legally could not possess the firearm. He did however come up clean on a records check to be an UNarmed security guard. Go figure.
Now it remains to be seen how he obtained the weapon. Woe be unto the gun shop that sold him a firearm without a records check. There's no waiting period here, but they are supposed to do a records check at the time of purchase prior to releasing the weapon.

Yeah if he wanted to kill his MIL so bad, then why didn't he just drive to her house and shoot her?
I think he decided to kill her AND Christians, being the frothing at the mouth atheist that he was, and get himself a two'fer. The guy was absolutely a violent nut case.

Most of them know how the Pentagon, under the Obama Liars Club...where Top Officers were threatened with termination....that Political Correctness, and the Liberal Fears of being accused of racism...was behind many of the NON-REPORTED people who were Discharged Dishonorably, or For BAD CONDUCT.
The political Hacks in Uniform, under Obama didn't want to STIR UP any bad vibes...like the way the reacted so swiftly to DON'T ASK, DON'T TELL....hushing everyone up with Threats.

THE policy that led to the release of most of the nation's mentally ill patients from the hospital to the community is now widely regarded as a major failure. Sweeping critiques of the policy, notably the recent report of the American Psychiatric Association, have spread the blame everywhere, faulting politicians, civil libertarian lawyers and psychiatrists.
https://www.realclearpolitics.com/2013/02/04/fifty_years_of_failing_america039s_mentally_ill_30 1246.html
Look back in time....not long ago; when Washington/Congress decided it was too expensive, and offensive to house people with MENTAL PROBLEMS...not to mention, being unfair, cruel, and unusual punishment...According to POLITICAL CORRECTNESS, to get, and keep the Mentally Unstable off the streets of America.
This is the way I see what is happening across the nation...too many times!
On Feb. 5, 1963, 50 years ago this week, President John F. Kennedy addressed Congress on "Mental Illness and Mental Retardation." He proposed a new program under which the federal government would fund community mental-health centers, or CMHCs, to take the place of state mental hospitals. As Kennedy envisioned it, "reliance on the cold mercy of custodial isolations will be supplanted by the open warmth of community concern and capability."
President Kennedy's proposal was historic because the public care of mentally ill individuals had been exclusively a state responsibility for more than a century. The federal initiative encouraged the closing of state hospitals and aborted the development of state-funded outpatient clinics in process at that time.

Yah. Ask Putin if there are any of stalins gulags left we could borrow. What is it with these fucks killing themselves ?Technically? From a purely logical standpoint, killing one's self after pulling off this heinous kind of shit is smart. We love to label it "cowardly" but really ...
From the mass murderer point of view what do you have to look forward to? Being a freak-show spectacle for the media and public, locked up and isolated for the rest of your sort life and in the end ... here in Texas? We're going to kill you like an old dog anyway. The public wants it's revenge. Me included. So, he screwed us over by depriving us of that too.
I am not one who sees it as cowardly, though that is the knee-jerk outrage and response. We want to throw tomatoes at the condemned. We feel cheated. Last laugh is his.

The Bible says you shouldn't take your own life, because God gave you life, so it's not your's to take.
God is the giver of life. He gives, and He takes away (Job 1:21 (https://biblia.com/bible/esv/Job%201.21)). Suicide, the taking of one’s own life, is ungodly because it rejects God’s gift of life. No man or woman should presume to take God’s authority upon themselves to end his or her own life.

I'm thinking after murdering 27 people and putting as many more in the hospital, what God thinks isn't on the priority list.
Your argument CAN also be used as an argument against the death penalty. "Vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord". It is not our place to exact it for Him. But we do for the reasons I mentioned before: we want our pound of flesh; which, is a mortal desire for revenge.
