I wouldn't discount the Clinton's political connections. As despicable as both of them are, they've got solid backers that are still clinging to power : Pelosi, Feinstein and the rest of the old corrupt bastards are still running the show.

I think it all ties into Trump's next 2 years. HE will decide whether or not running against him is worth it. If he keeps going like he is, you don't waste your up n- coming star on a sure loss. You toss out Biden or Sanders or Hitlery or Pocahontas and groom your rising star for 4 years more.
