We're not going to see much here in SW WI, we're away from the total eclipse track aways and it's overcast anyway. We'll get a little dark and it'll lighten back up and it's over... whoopi.

From what I read I'd have to go to Tennessee to see it. But I will be able to see one in Toledo, Ohio in 2024.

We are to have an 80% eclipse here in Delaware. And it's quite sunny.

So they're right in the path. Were they planning to take a look at it? Safely, of course.

It's turned to kinda "hazy" here. You can see an outline of the sun through the clouds. Looks like we'll see about a 90% coverage eclipse here... starts at 11:50AM for us... max eclipse at 1:15PM... if it looks like we can actually see something, I'll go grab one of my welding helmets to take a look... might even be able to take a picture through the lens. I'll check it out...

Bummer... well this is what we see here. You can see the sun through the haze so, we might get to actually see the eclipse. I'll see if I can take a picture of it through my welding helmet lens with my better Canon camera. I hate using these phone cameras...

They have two small children, so I've convinced them to watch it on tv ;)

It is too blasted hazy to see it clearly in SW Oregon.

Charleston, South Carolina, the last place on the continent that will get look.

Current weather conditions: Severe thunder storms. But I will get to see the darkness.

We got a 70% eclipse at 2:44pm. I was all excited to see it. The sun going away was more like a cloud going overhead, and then was back moments later. We didn't get to experience any 'darkness'.

BUT...

So, apparently having only 20% of the sun is still very sunny, and there were still full shadows. I was expecting mostly darkness with an 80% eclipse. Anyway, I used my special eclipse binoculars, and whaddayaknow through them the moon was covering about 80% of the sun.

(Now here's praying the binoculars were actually protecting my eyes! The brand is on NASA's approved vendor list, and I couldn't see a thing through them except the sun).

What we saw here in SW WI... it started out hazy so the camera was having a hard time focusing, and the pictures are fuzzy, but as fate would have it, it started to clear up as it neared full/partial eclipse for us. Here is what I was able to do with my little Canon Power Shot SX280HS point and shot and my welding helmet as a filter...

And the clouds came right back in after the apex of the eclipse. Worked out great.

I think @Gunny (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=30) is in Nova Scotia.Is that som'ere's in North Texas? :)

Seriously, I don't get it. Made sure the dogs were inside and fell asleep. There're gazillions of people on the news camping out and sitting around to watch the sky for 2 minutes:popcorn:.

Funny thing was. I remembered many years ago, when we had another eclipse, and no glasses. Figure the millions of people who made Somebody really Rich by buying those glasses for two minutes...while my wife and I looked down at TWO index cards, ONE with a hole in the center (made with a pencil point), held above another card.

We just held both cards down in front of us...NEVER LOOKING UP, and letting the Sun shine through the little HOLE...and guess what? WE SAW PART OF THE SUN BLOCKED OUT for only a few seconds. PAID NOTHING. Go figure!
