His parting shot against Trump.

A shame that our congress critters are more interested in fighting, who has more power, what may keep them in office with that power, how to get pork in the bills....

This is the same for BOTH sides. I have to wonder if any of them are actually interested in healthcare at all. I doubt it.

Can I change that? :death:

I know - in it for himself, not spending any money, there to help the democrats, it's all a ruse somehow, he's just trying to inflate his $$ and businesses, just full of himself and wants to be in the news, that he is a psycho... everyone has their own take on it. Funny stuff!

If this was McCain's final trip to Washington, he left one hell of a parting shot.
His message to Trump might have gone something like this:

Kinda alone the lines of what I was thinking too, and obviously himself and Trump aren't exactly buddies!

So why do we even have individual votes if everyone is supposed to be a drone and vote party lines every time? The bill was complete horseshit.

I love Gowdy. They should put him in charge!

Gowdy: Best We Can Come Up With Is ‘Skinny’ Repeal?

House Oversight Chairman Trey Gowdy is irritated with the Republican Party for having seven years to come up with a health care plan but only managing to think of a “skinny” repeal.

“Our problem is for seven years telling people what we’re against and what we’re opposed to and then we’ve had seven months to govern, and the best we can come up with is a skinny plan on 24 hours notice?” Gowdy said during a Friday morning Fox News interview.

“We’ve had seven years to figure it out and the best we can come up with is something called ‘skinny,'” he continued to mock.

Cohost Brian Kilmeade asked Gowdy what next steps are given the Senate’s “skinny” repeal failed very early Friday.

Gowdy asserted that Republicans have to go back and try again because Obamacare “is failing” and repeal and replace was a “fundamental promise of the Trump campaign.”

“It’s not going to be done with 24 hours notice and a bill that has the word ‘skinny’ in it,” he reiterated.

McCain obviously has not forgotten how Trump attacked him during the 2016 campaign. This was payback in the most dramatic of fashions.

Minutes after the clock struck midnight, John McCain, the senior senator from Arizona, strode into the basement of the US capitol. He was on his way to the Senate floor to cast a consequential vote, as the Republican effort to repeal Barack Obama’s Affordable Care Act hung in the balance.

“Have you decided how you’ll vote?” a reporter asked him, as journalists rushed after the senator on his way to the elevator bank.

“Yes,” McCain said.

“How?” several reporters responded. McCain, the 2008 Republican presidential nominee who has earned a reputation as a political maverick willing to break with his party, was recently diagnosed with brain cancer but delayed treatment to return to Washington before the vote.

“Wait for the show,” he replied.

Only because you disagree with it of course. They should have all voted yes. Dismantle every piece of the prior worst bill ever. Then they need to fix the medicare issues - and then get the votes.

The Dems said a LONG time ago that they would vote against NO MATTER WHAT, and far too many said that about ANYTHING that the R's may try while Trump was in office. Personally, as far as "individual votes" are concerned, it would probably make more sense to hear them, actually read them, see if it's good for your constituents, and THEN make a determination.

Probably so, kinda what I was thinking. But all he did if so would be to shoot himself in the foot. Congress is not about payback and making the country and your constituents pay the price for your vengeance voting.

They weren't voting on something that would have dismantled every piece of the prior worst bill ever. They fixed 0 and this bill would have just screwed things up more.

I disagree, as does the entire R side voting. I was also giving a chronological order of what they should do, not what this bill was.

They should have all voted yes. Dismantle every piece of the prior worst bill ever. Then they need to fix the medicare issues - and then get the votes.

Or:

They should have all voted yes.
Dismantle every piece of the prior worst bill ever.

No need to bother trying to move forward. Unless you have a personal agenda of course. :)

I'm still pissed when they point out that none of these bastards has to do anything with the healthcare, that they can get special healthcare. Otherwise, McCain's healthcare would have doubled in Arizona.

FLASHBACK: RINO John McCain Campaigns on Repealing Obamacare

Senator John McCain is a popular man right now for both good and bad reasons. If you’re on the Left, John McCain is once again a maverick and hero in your eyes; if you’re on the right, he’s a RINO and traitor.

McCain is a giant, flaming hypocrite for killing the ‘skinny’ version of an Obamacare repeal bill. In a 2016 re-election campaign ad, McCain branded himself a leader in the fight against Obamacare.

McCain was savaged for his decision to vote ‘no’ on repealing Obamacare.

As TGP previously reported, the Senate (McCain) blocked the latest attempt by the GOP to repeal Obamacare in a midnight vote, stalling one of President Trump’s main campaign promises.

After McCain gave his thumbs down and said ‘no’, gasps could be heard from the Democrat side of the aisle (McCain’s friends).

The American people are furious with McCain and absolutely savaged him on Twitter

John McCain does not have Obamacare.
He has a special plan for Senators and lawmakers.
He does not have to worry about the Arizona premiums which have doubled since Obamacare was implemented.

Last night Senator McCain, 48 Democrats and two fellow Republicans killed Obamacare repeal.

Senator McCain released a statement after he killed Obamacare repeal–and the internet responded accordingly.

Oh, I disagree with McCain, Senators Murkowski, Collins, and more all the time. I doubt there's any politician, including all I've voted for or even worked on their campaigns I don't agree with on more than a few occasions. There are more than a few I wouldn't vote for, if I lived in the right place to do so. It's the way the system works by design.

There's much more going on than one Senator, Speaker, Majority Leader.

I think we're seeing reactions to failed bills as we have often seen. We may not have seen a president respond in Twitter before. But even in the past we have seen basically 'bribing' to get members support on bills, and then have seen many a fight over some that had differing opinions - and even more so from supporters.

Outside of Trump's twitter message about it, not sure it's much different than the past, at least as far as the party somehow imploding is concerned. Things don't always go as planned. How long did it take for the Dems to finally get things put through? We expect, and rightfully so, that it would be much quicker, considering the length of time the complaints have been going on and because the R's own both chambers.

I'm not going to look at everything as fatal.

Saying someone isn't a 'Republican' is not unusual, when they've been one for over 50 years?

There does appear to be a chasm too wide to bridge now, within the party. Now to some amusement, Scaramucci managed to rile both yesterday, going after Priebus and Bannon at the same time. Breitbart went after him a tad. ;)

Here's the thing, it appears that any Republican that won't just pony up what and when told to, will be vilified. They have more to fear from the leader of their party than the opposition, not too mention his supporters.

The argument for the brawler was that the Democrats wouldn't listen, imagine not agreeing with the brawler. Indeed, there are those that have to have more in common with the 'opposing' party than they do with the current form of the GOP.

I'm not certain that the divide hasn't been there for a long time, the last election just brought clarity to the differences and whether those can ever be reconciled is really in doubt.

Schumer: McCain Ranks as Great as Ted Kennedy

WASHINGTON -- Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) today declared Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) to have joined the ranks of late Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.) when it comes to greatness in Congress.

The senator who was defeated by President Obama in his 2008 quest for the White House stepped in to cast the deciding vote to kill Senate Republicans' last-gasp effort to repeal Obama's signature healthcare legislation. Audible gasps arose from the Dem side of the chamber in the wee hours this morning when McCain walked forward and cast a loud "no" vote -- the 51st vote to kill a "skinny repeal" bill also opposed by Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) and Susan Collins (R-Maine).

After senators caught a few hours of sleep, Schumer held a press conference on Capitol Hill hailing the vote as "an amazing moment." Another attempts at repeal-and-replace as well as straight repeal with no immediate replacement also failed this week with even more GOP dissent.

"And the credit goes to a lot of people, but at the top of the list are the three who showed amazing courage to resist the pressure and do what's good for the country. John McCain at the top of the list," Schumer, who hugged McCain after the vote, said. "He and I have been friends for a very long time, ever since the Gang of Eight which we put together. And I have not seen a senator who speaks truth to power as strongly, as well and as frequently as John McCain. The very same courage he showed as a naval aviator in Vietnam, he showed last night and has shown time and time again. He's just a wonderful man. I treasure his friendship and just the fact of knowing him."

"I've known a few great men in the Senate. I'd put Ted Kennedy in that category and Danny Inouye. And I'd put John McCain in that category too," he added. "And certainly not to be forgotten, of equal praise are Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski. They were amazing. And women are in so many instances stronger than men. They brag less about it, but they are. And last night sort of proved that."
